About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finishing graduate school

ABOUT ME

I am a thirty-four year old progressive, feminist peacenik chick who recently moved back to Washington State to live with the love of my life - I am fulfilling my dream of becoming a nurse-midwife and women's helath practitioner. I enjoy art, the theater, the beach, tea (lots of tea!), music, long conversations about any and everything and meeting people from all over the world. I have traveled a bit myself and have visited four of the seven continents. I had a great CS experience in Paris and I would love to - at some point - reciprocate that to somebody visiting my city.

PHILOSOPHY

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

That pretty much sums it up for me. I also firmly believe in trying to leave the world a better place than I found it and I've devoted my life to social justice work.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have couch-surfed in Paris and I hope to provide a warm welcome and perhaps touring services to people coming to Boston. I'm completely enamored of my city and love to show it off!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed on the best couch in France with the lovely musicians Julien and Louise - I very much hope I get to see them whenever they might make it to the US.

Interests

History, religion (study of, not necessarily practice), experiencing other cultures and communities, food, working for social justice and the occasional Irish whiskey. I hope to pursue a master's in public health and spend a good portion of my life on the road doing what I can to make this planet a little bit better.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I have ever experienced is wandering for hours through the Old City of Jerusalem. I could hear ten different languages, visit some of the most holy sites in the world and experience the power of such places, regardless of my own religious beliefs. I loved nothing more than to wander through the labyrinth, away from the more crowded areas and place my hands on the city walls, reveling in the fact that they have stood for thousands of years. I was blessed to get the opportunity to actually go inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque (a rare privilege for non-Muslims) and it was one of the most fantastic experiences of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an intermediate French speaker working on advancing my skills.

I would love to learn any language that anybody wants to speak to me!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Nepal, Palestine, United States
