About Me

Currently I'm just chasing some dreams to the ends of the earth. I love to travel, seeing new places, trying new things, and meeting new people. I'm usually pretty quiet, but I love a conversation, a good time, and, occasionally, singing. I enjoy wandering aimlessly, exploring corners and side streets. I am an aspiring novelist, and writing books is a dream of mine. Writing and ideas are my passion. I also enjoy reading, especially in cafes. I don't often draw, but when I do, it is almost always on a paper napkin. I like to cook, and I enjoy nearly every type of food, though I generally tend to avoid bananas. I played soccer throughout most of my life, and I'll always enjoy to watch a game or kick the ball around. I'm flexible (mentally, if not physically), open to new things and ideas, and eager to try things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I was 14 years old, I've been planning to travel the world. I was inspired by a travel book, and my original plan was to ride a bicycle from England to the furthest corner of Siberia. The plan has changed over the years, and it no longer resembles my 14 year old plan. However, the desire to see the world and go vagabonding has only grown with time. I decided to start my travels in India, teaching English at a local orphanage and meeting the people around me. I love to help out--cooking, cleaning, weeding a garden--I am quick to learn and eager to assist.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Frank Sinatra, Def Leppard, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, a lot of old rock, jazz, and occasionally some modern pop.
Movies: Cloud Atlas, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Grand Budapest Hotel are a few of my favorites. I like a lot of older movies as well, though as I write this, no names seem to come to mind.
Books: Anything by Kurt Vonnegut, The Bell Jar, The Odyssey, The Magic Mountain, T.S. Eliot, and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've spent the first five months of my travels in India, volunteering as a vegetable peeler and an English teacher while taking short voyages to restricted areas in Sikkim (in Northern India) and living in a Buddhist monastery in West Bengal.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not certified to teach anything, but I can hold an intelligent conversation. I am well read in both fiction and nonfiction (mostly history and a little science). I love to learn, both in schools, in books, and in the real world. I am an eager listener, and I learn things quickly and remember things fairly well (names are more difficult for me than faces or words).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories, conversations, an ear ready to listen, and any help or assistance that I can offer.

Belgium, Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Morocco, Nepal, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Vatican City State
