About Me

CURRENT MISSION
To create innovative educational programs, projects, and collaborations that make learning come alive

ABOUT ME
I'm an educator and photographer who grew up moving around the world. I've worked as a teacher, an arts curriculum specialist, and a graphic designer. I really enjoy taking pictures, riding bikes around unfamiliar cities, cooking and eating food with great people, and playing games.

PHILOSOPHY
"Let's make something happen to this world."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The absolute best way to experience a place while traveling is to meet good people who live there and hang out with them. Couchsurfing is a great community and a great way to do just that.

Interests

I love taking photos, working with kids, graphic design, theater, dogs, cats, biking, and travel. Most of all, I love my friends and family.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge fan of Coen Brothers and Taika Waititi movies, books by Kurt Vonnegut, Donna Tartt and David Foster Wallace, funky and upbeat music, and Calvin & Hobbes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My girlfriend and I went on a 9-month trip around the world - along the way, we visited the 7 tribal states in the northeast of India, which have only recently been opened up to foreign travelers. We were there for a tribal festival called Moatsu, where former headhunters mock-fought, danced, and sang traditional songs. We also visited the rainy valley of Cherrapunjee, where villagers in the jungle have built living bridges out of the roots of trees in order to cross the raging rivers during monsoon. It was an amazing trip!

Teach, Learn, Share

Graphic Design or Photography - I would love to teach you some quick tricks or help you design/beautify something (photos, print, web, whatever!).

Music - I love singing and playing the guitar, and I can teach some easy-to-learn songs and harmonies that sound great without too much effort.

Games - I think one of the best ways to get to know someone is to play games: sports, board games, card games, fun made-up collaborative games...if you're into that, I have a LOT of games up my sleeve.

What I Can Share with Hosts

All of the above, but also some tasty home-cooked Chinese food (I lived in Beijing for 2 years).
