About Me
Can't take couchsurfers 'til the end of August sorry, got an album to record and not enough time to record it in woops. Will be able to take folk again September onwards.
I'm one of those silly people who tries to make music a living, playing in bands, annoying bus drivers with the weird shaped instrument cases they need to slot in their luggage holds.
Originally I'm from a wee town called Linlithgow in the middle of Scotland, which has a lovely palace in it and nice forests, but for the last almost ten years I've been in Glasgow, which is great mostly because of it's active music scene.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For the last few years I've lived in a couchsurfing house with https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/peterwerninck, and met some really cool people, it's great showing folk around places I know and live, it's true that you learn so much more about your home city seeing it from different perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books
I play in a few bands, here's one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVjN9S7Mm0Y (you don't need to listen to stay with me don't worry) but my favourite thing is finding new types of music, so I listen to a lot of everything, my recent favourite discoveries are 16 Horsepower, Old Blind Dogs and Fela Kuti and the band that have always made me happiest is Iron Maiden.
I read a lot of fantasy and science fiction, especially series with a really advanced developed world under them like The Culture series by Iain Banks or the Silmarillion, though the first thing I did when I first got the Silmarillion was skip to the back section about Tolkien's languages
I'm quite obsessed with the tv show Buffy the Vampire Slayer but movies I don't watch so often, I think the ones I enjoy most are the Wicker Man and the original Solaris.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Playing a gig in a country you've never been before and still seeing one or two folk in the crowd singing along with your choruses is a super lovely feeling, especially as a pretty unknown band.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always trying to learn something or other, usually some piece of crazy linguistic history or musical instrument (right now trying to learn to sing/play violin).
For the last 3 or 4 years I've been trying to learn German, and have been trying to teach myself Polish and Spanish when I can over the last couple years or so. I really like to try and learn a little bit of a country's language before visiting, for my own fun as much as usefulness.
I think the best teacher is always someone going on about the thing they are most enthusiastic about, nothing's boring it's just that I haven't thought about it in the right way yet.
