About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see. To entertain. To suck the marrow out of life (in an ecosustainable way). To feel those joyous feelings like dusk on a windy summer's eve or an overhang in a strange town in a downpour or a couch in an alley at midnight.

ABOUT ME

I want to start things - all kinds of things: I want to start a space program to build a starship that will house hundreds of people for thousands of years and take off to explore other worlds. I want to start an international political theatre ensemble to travel the world and use theatre to bring communities together to converse on a topic that affects them. I started the group Why?: Artists Against the War at the University of Washington. I co-founded a dramatic dance ensemble called Klichet, and a theatre production company called Ray Burley Productions. I helped start a street theatre group called R.A.T. I want to start a sheep farm/inn/salon in Ireland or Austria someday. I want to build a castle in Montana.
Just settled down to become a famous actor in L.A. afteran adventure to see what's next by busking around the world, starting with the Midwest.

PHILOSOPHY

Risks are fun. Comfort is nice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

New- I try to welcome new Couchsurfers to L.A. We host, but very rarely. When we travel we mix it up between staying with friends and family and CSers. I want the world to be one big family. I'm on CS to listen.

Old- We've travelled all over the U.S., Scandinavia, and much of Germany couchsurfing. We've hosted a few times, and we organize events as best we can wherever we are. We also like to meet CSers (and their ilk... BeWelcome, and Hospitality Club as well) for games and drinks.

Older-Wow. This sounds amazing. Just like the kind of thing I do on my own. I feel like we share a desire to change the world in a similar way. Woot! This is my first day with Couchsurfing.com, but I hope I participate by hosting and surfing. I hope I make the whole world seem like a community. I hope I find people that want to make performance art with me across the world. I hope.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before Couchsurfing my experience was because I'm a dedicated hitchhiker. I've had a few awesome kindly rides that gave me a night's sleep. The most exciting was in the back of a used tire salesman's truck from Romania to Austria (I slept all through Hungary). We also got a ride from a woman just outside of the Macaw reservation on the Olympic Peninsula. It started pouring rain, and I thought, "I know someday I won't be this wet and miserable anymore, but it's hard to imagine." then she swooped in with a white minivan, told us a story of her Professor's murder by his wife, and let us sleep in her daughter's empty bedroom and watch Harry Potter.
Since then, we've Surfed numerous couches (and had more unexpected hitchhiking sleeps), organized and attended plenty of CS gatherings, and hosted as many times as we could.

Interests

Board games, improv games, role-playing games, game design. I'm INTERESTED in learning to play the violin, but it's not really something I'm actively pursuing.
