Overview
About Me
Thought I'd be living in Japan by now, but am starting to feel too old for such a change and that scares me.
Was majoring in Philosophy but never got my diploma because of so many minors. Ended up learning programming at home instead. Somehow, has been my job for a while now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meeting other travelers is a bridge to creating long lasting connections with a new place, with a sharing way deeper than vacation pictures
Interests
Got love for math and science after bitten by Sagan and Feynman, so any topic or knowledge sharing on that is an easy bridge.
I've enjoyed so many hobbies, is hard make a representative list, so here are some that come to mind:
Surfing every morning back in my Portugal days
Mountaineering in Zakopane back in my Poland days
Skateboarder everywhere forever (non-practicing for some years tho 😓)
Discovered football obsession only at 30, which came through the amazing management stories, specially freaking Mourinho
on again off again Anime addicted
Speed Cuber
Really wanting to get into diving and climbing, but always missing the chance for lack of connections
Squirtle best starter, Bulbasaur best pet
top 1000 world rank in Pokemon Unite 👀
getting good in territorial.io these days
also addicted to pavlov shack on VR
Working a lot on AI sideprojects lately (the world will indeed end and we'll all die FYI)
In fact if you are a programmer, my usual stack is full-stack TS and scientific Python, plus a lot of haskell in personal projects or study.
- gaming
- programming
- skate
- haskell
- speed cubing
Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
Bunch of Folk and J-Rock, but dabble in pretty much any style depending on my mood
Some recurrent or recent obsessions are Fleet Foxes, Linkin Park, Beatles, Yorushika, all of Aviencloud, Kessoku Band
Also everyone knows Belchior's 'Alucinação' is the best album in history
Movies: mostly anime. Also keeping up with comics cinematic universe as I got a hangover from all the french or iranian indie road movies during my time at humanities institute
Books: Unfortunately I really lack the attention span, even after trying so many times in different moments of life
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Consistently had the worst grades on math and physics on my school and even dropped out. But turned it around and learned to study at home, so got accepted in the hardest entrance exam for math and physics in Brazil 💪
Couldn't really attend as I was blocked to start because it's a military uni and the health exams discovered ADHD. (which retroactively kinda explain school I guess)
Apparently you can't be a jet pilot and aspiring astronaut if you have this 😢
So I went to Philosophy and became a full time hippie
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: Programming intro, how to solve a Rubiks cube, how to do a kickflip
Learn: I'm trying to learn Dutch atm but my random interests and late night obsessions are making it hard
Share: A south american mate? I feel the best I can share is knowledge and culture based, so not sure how to fill here
Countries I’ve Lived In
Brazil, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal
