About Me

I've been travelling more or less since I graduated university in 2014. At the time I had a decent job lined up in my home town and it was close to graduation when it stuck me that I didn't want and wasn't ready to settle into a career and established life just yet. I went to work in Yellowstone National Park that summer and it opened the world to me and completely changed my life. I made friends with people from all over the world, students from far flung places that one hardly ever thinks of. I was filled with dreams of traveling and seeing the places which they called home. I quickly caught the travel bug that summer. I then went on to work in two other national parks and managed to save up for a bit of travelling on my own.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first joined Couchsurfing because I loved the idea of an international group of travelers helping one another out especially considering how expensive it is to travel in the US. At the time I was living in the Grand Canyon National Park and happened to have a spare bed and was happy to help others see such an amazing place.

I just finished a one year trip in South America spending a lot of time in hostels and camping but was only able to Couchsurf once. I'm hoping to use Couchsurfing in Europe in order to meet more locals and to have a different experience.

Interests

I love nature and the outdoors, especially the mountains. I ski, I mountain bike, and I love hiking for days in the mountains and getting lost in their beauty. A four month trip to South America easily turned into a year because I couldn't get enough of the Andes.

I also love to cook mostly because I really like to eat. Trying new foods is another motivation for travel. I'm open to trying anything and there's very few foods I dislike. I really hope to come home with a few new recipes and if you also enjoy cooking I can teach you a few things and also introduce you to Filipino food.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a wide range of music but top 5 favorite bands; Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Deftones, Elliot Smith, My Morning Jacket.

My favorite directors are The Cohen Brothers, Wes Anderson, Alejandro Inarritu, and Quinton Tarrentino.

I read a bit and enjoy Cormac McCarthy and Thomas Hardy and if I could understand what he's saying, I would enjoy James Joyce.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've worked and lived in three national parks in the US; The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Park.
