Hi, I'm Brent! I'm a brewing process engineer, chemist and food technologist with a big passion for exploring new places and cultures!
📖 Creative: I enjoy reading, writing, (contemporary) art, tattoos, philosophy, jazz, playing guitar, bass guitar and drums.
🥊 Sports: I try to stay healthy, I particularly enjoy boxing, bouldering and going to the gym. Love watching football and hockey. I dream of running a marathon one day.
🍺 Food and drinks: a big passion of mine. I hold two degrees in food related fields, and I work as a brewing process engineer in the Stella Artois Brewery in Belgium. I can keep going on and on about beer and fermentation

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people! I'm a very social guy and like to grab a beer with people, having fun conversations, that might get more philosophical the later it gets. I also like truly exploring a place, getting to know the local culture, food and lifestyle, which Couchsurfing is great for!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I tend to like all kinds of music, and I like to switch it up based on which atmosphere I want to create or which mood I'm in. If I'd have to pick some specific genres, I'd say I'm into 80ies heavy metal, experimental jazz and pop.

Movies: I don't watch much movies in general, but I am a huge fan of movie franchises such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Marvel Avengers, ... I am more a series kinda guy, of which some of my top favorites are: Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman, Game of Thrones,... I am a huge sitcom fan, with some of my favorite ones being Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Brooklyn 99, Two and a Half Men,...

Books: I try to read as much as I can and I like to mix it up too, fiction and non-fiction alike. Some of my favorites that I found particularly good reads, are:

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After a long selection procedure, I was elected to be one of three "hosts" of a massive Belgian cantus (imagine a traditional Belgian student night filled with Belgian beer and old Belgian, Dutch, English, Irish, South-African,... Songs). We were on stage, entertaining over 4000 students the entire night on the city square of Leuven, the biggest student city in Belgium, breaking the world record of biggest cantus. Amazing and surreal experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach all kinds of stuff I'm kinda good at, for example, I can teach you (the very useful) Dutch or English. I'd also love to get people playing the guitar. Besides this, I'm a certified tutor in chemistry, physics and mathematics, so no worries, I got your homework covered!

As a food technologist, I would absolutely love to get to know your local cuisine, the crazier, the better! I'm also very interested in learning new things in general, so any quirky hobby you might have, consider me interested!
