CURRENT MISSION

I just completed my B.Sc in Environmental Microbiology. Was in graduate school for a year studying Marine Microbial Ecology but decided working in a lab wasn't for me! Working in Oceanography and seeing first-hand the harm our modern life brings to the oceans, it was difficult feeling like I couldn't make much of a difference doing basic science in a lab...

I moved to Greece in September to work for a non-profit promoting sail/wind energy-based cargo transportation in the Mediterranean. (www.sailmed.org)

ABOUT ME

I'm 25 years old, born in Hawaii, but moved to Colorado when I was 4, and grew up in the mountains. I lived for 8 years in Vancouver, Canada, and now live in Athens, Greece.
I'm passionate about the oceans, sailing, science, and being outside! I'm happiest when I'm camping (on a beach, in the mountains), or out on the water sailing. Recently I've become very interested in permaculture/growing food, so if you have anything to teach me we should definitely meet up! ;)

PHILOSOPHY

Being a few seconds late for a bus once changed my life forever. See how life reacts when you dodge the routine it tries to conform you to, you might meet someone you were never going to meet or go places you were never going to go.

Interests

Skiing, camping, sailing, windsurfing, bonfires on the beach, cold beer with friends... if my day involves one or more of those things, I'd call it a success.

This summer I quit my job to move to Greece and work for a non-profit aiming to bring back sail-powered cargo transportation. I've always been drawn to the oceans, and I'm very excited and humbled to be working towards their protection and sustainable use. "We are all sea creatures"

Music, Movies, and Books

Ray Bradbury is my favourite author, my favourite book is "The Gods Themselves" by Isaac Asimov. Science fiction has had a huge role in shaping my views toward the environment and human society- If you think the genre is all about space battles and laser beams, I have some suggestions for books that might change your mind!

Favourite music includes: Country Music, Jazz music, outdoor live music, making music.
