Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I appreciate not having to stay in hotels and am happy to provide others the same kindness.
ABOUT ME
The universe is composed of subjects to be communed with, not objects to be exploited. Everything has its own voice. Thunder and lightening and stars and planets, flowers, birds, animals, trees, -- all these have voices, and they constitute a community of existence that is profoundly related.
-Thomas Berry
Non-smoking
Vegetarian or Pescatarian (Omnivorous when visiting other's houses)
PHILOSOPHY
Buddhist with an appreciation of other religions and philosophies especially Taoism and Advaita. Also high on my list is Ratty's philosophy from Wind in the Willows
"There is nothing- absolutely nothing-
half so much worth doing
as simply messing about in boats."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I don't really do anything to build the community besides my offer to host. I think its great but I have a lot of other things, including other forms of social activism, I am putting my time into.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Not so much surfing yet (besides my friends places)
I did follow the dead for a summer although that was more like America surfing
I have hosted more than a dozen people so far and its been great

Teach, Learn, Share
I am a wilderness guide and a social worker. I have a deep interest in the natural world and in sustainability and food systems and am somewhat knowledgeable on these topics. I run a small business and have some experience in promotion and web design because of that. In a former life (undergrad) I spent a lot of time as a social activist and a campus organizer.
I would like to learn to weld and to learn some carpentry. I want to be a better gardener and a better sailor. I am currently trying to become decent at web design, editing video, and photography.
