Overview
About Me
Hi. I am an American English teacher from small town mid-Michigan, USA. I love to travel and learn about the world, and so I study world history. Aside from learning a new language, culture, and way of looking at the world, I also love to try the local foods. I am a big foodie. I also am an amateur body builder, I enjoy playing the piano, and I also enjoy spending time just relaxing in front of the TV or with a good book.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because it seems like a great way to meet locals and really understand a different way of life better. I absolutely love to travel, maybe more than anything else, but I feel that simply going and spending a few days wandering around a new place and looking at the sites, as amazing as they may be, does not actually demonstrate the new culture. Through couch surfing I hope to make new connections and meet new people who can really help me understand the place I am in and get a glimpse of what life is like living there.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of music, but my favorites are rock and classical piano. I like most genres of rock although typically I listen to punk or metal, but a good song is a good song! I also love historical dramas, either in the shape of movies or tv, assuming they are of quality. Some of my favorites are Gladiator and Game of Thrones. I like to read history books, classic literature, and what ever else finds its way into my lap.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Although I think ever person has their own idea of what is amazing and isn't, for me one thing that I am very pleased with myself for doing was when I was 18 years old, a month after graduating high school, I spent my life's savings to go and spend one month volunteering at a grade school in rural China. It was a life changing experience that I wouldn't trade for anything.
Teach, Learn, Share
I very much look forward to the chance to learn about new cultures, languages, and life styles, and I also am happy to do what I can to teach you about my own. I am an English as a second language teacher, so if you want to practice I'll be happy to help!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I hope to share a new perspective on life. Although many people have probably met other Americans in their lifetime, I like to think that I can offer a new perspective on life in America than many other Americans. Also, I hope that I can just be a pleasant person to have a conversation with and we hopefully can create a nice bond. Also, as I stated above , I am happy to share any knowledge I may have gathered over my years if you think it will be helpful, whether it be fitness, English, history, or anything else.
