About Me
Hey There...
I am married to Shelli, and our son is Grant (20 years old). My interests cut across a wide arrange of activities - trail running, martial arts, making art, and making music with my musical group (Emanant Origins).
I love to read on a wide range of topics - mostly oriented toward the pursuit of wisdom and overall well-being; and I've done some freelance writing on the topic of psychedelics.
In the photo section, I've attached a few photos to give you a feel for me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My wife and I love to travel to new, interesting, and beautiful places. I have a particular affection for the American Southwest, especially New Mexico. I am also teaching my son the importance of travel: Expanding horizons, wide perspectives, being in the moment, fluidity, allowing whatever shows up, appreciating the beauty and goodness of this Earth and it's creatures.
When traveling with the family, we tend to use Airbnb. But, when traveling alone, or with my son, I like to go a bit more "minimalist", and I love the engagements and connections that Couchsurfing makes available (wish I knew about Couchsurfing years ago!).
(NOTE: Our current living arrangement is not conducive for hosting - but, will be in the near future).

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite Music: Yaima (from Seattle) continues to resonate most deeply with me.
A few books I've kept nearby: Tao Te Ching (Lao Tzu), Meditations (Marcus Aurelious), Born to Run (Christopher McDougall), Practical Kabbalah (Laibl Wolf), Karma (Sadguru), Currency of Empathy (Jackie Acho), When the Body Says No (Gabor Mate, MD), How to Change Your Mind (Michael Pollan), Peace is Every Step (Thich Nhat Hanh).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was in the Air Force, stationed in Oklahoma City when the federal building was bombed. Along with many other individuals from the base, I deployed to the site of the federal building and participated in the search and rescue effort. From this experience, I learned that trauma can be the raw materials of wisdom, if we are willing to do the work.
Teach, Learn, Share
Of course!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Most of my discussions with those I meet along the way tend to be organic and energetically satisfying...topic revolve around holistic well-being - physical health, emotional and mental health, meditation, longevity, food, nature, exercise, and so forth. In the military, I received excellent training on camouflage, evasion, and resisting interrogations....and I use this skill to avoid politics and other incendiary topics!! I've read a lot, and practiced many modalities, and continue to explore. I am an open book on all of these topics.
