About Me

My name is Brett and I'm currently living in Philadelphia with a house I want strangers to stay at. I grew up in Long Beach, California and plan on moving back once I'm done with school. I'm an Eagle Scout.
I go to school at drexel university studying music industry. My life is is a mix of shows, work, and eating. I enjoy making food and I have slowly come to realize that a majority of the food I make is probably too greasy for anyone who is looking to live past 35. However it does taste good.
I enjoy talking to people, everyone has something to offer and I slowly began to realize that new people, new places and new experiences are some of the most important things in my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Tourists are in my top three of least favorite kinds of people. I have a firm belief that in order to get the most out of your travels, you should act like a resident instead of a visitor.
I'm on here to eliminate tourists by taking people into my house and converting them into residents within a matter of days/hours. There is only so much that the internet can tell you about the cool, hip, underground things to do, and I want to be better than the internet (an impossible feat)

Interests

music, art, and conversation.
riding my bike
eating food
making food
discussing very existential shit
responsibly drinking
irresponsibly drinking
making jiffy cornbread
currently my roommate and I put out a monthly compilation album featuring different musicians/artists in the Philadelphia area.

Music, Movies, and Books

The reason why I came to school in Philly was because I loved The Roots, so that's a good place to start
other music:
Hot Sugar, BBNG, Kaytanada, Portishead, Mos Def, Gnarls Barkley
movie:
District 9.
Books:
I'm not a nerd, but i really wish I could get myself to read more. Last/Favorite/Only book I've read for pleasure was Brave New World

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Looking for something to fill this space.

Teach, Learn, Share

Music, we are doing a monthly collaboration for charity and wold love to show you how we live in Philadelphia.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A home that feels like a home, and whatever else they need. Might be able to cook a greasy meal if there is enough food and not too many people.
