About Me
CURRENT MISSION
This world is amazing, and the more you see of it the more you want to see.
ABOUT ME
There isn't much to tell. I do the best I can with what I have.
I have always liked to try new things and visit new places, although my particular hometown often left me with the feeling that traveling and enjoying your life was only for wealthy or more privileged people. As I get older the inaccuracy of that mentality fades more and more.
A few things I've done or been:
Cowboy/ranch hand (and rode a few bulls).
Aircraft maintenance mechanic.
Joined the army (not for me).
Substitute teacher.
Wilderness Youth Counselor for At-Risk boys.
Worked in New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina.
Deckhand on Alaskan charter boat.
After this I started college at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia, and that school's study-abroad program made it possible for me to become a visiting student at Oxford University for a year. I am currently in my last semester of my undergraduate degree.
I'm still undecided about my future, but I am confident that I will enjoy whatever I do.
"Go boldly in the direction of your dreams; live the life you've imagined" Henry David Thoreau
PHILOSOPHY
We are only limited by our imagination.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
The CS2 project is new to me, but I think it is amazing. The internet has provided an astounding opportunity for making the world smaller, and now that I am in the Columbus, Georgia area I am available to help people out in getting a view of Southern living.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed in Vienna. This has been an amazing experience so far; this website is a wonderful idea. My hosts have been excellent and I cannot imagine how anyone could be more hospitable and friendly than they all have been.
Interests
Native American skills, video/audio editing (this is a new one...), writing about controversial topics to spark discussion (not argument, however).

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Lacuna Coil, Seven Mary Three (Old school...), Shinedown, White Zombie
Movies: No chick-flicks...sorry. Everything else is fine by me.
Books: I am an English major...books are my life. Moby Dick, Graham Greene, Thomas Hardy, James Clavell, there is really no category I prefer over others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cinco de Mayo celebration in Whittier, Alaska. The whole town is 187 people, and they got Boni and Juan, the only Mexicans, and drove them around the little town on top of the fire truck. There were quads (four-wheelers), a go-cart, several children, and a woman with a reindeer in the makeshift parade. The progression ended at the end of the street where we had Corona, fajitas, and Mexican music on the pavilion. Our sombreros helped a lot with the driving winds and sleet.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach that we don't have to settle for what we are given.
Taught English, pretty good cook, can offer help with construction/renovation projects or other things around the house.
