About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is leaving South Korea after a wonderful year here, and heading on a 14 week backpacking adventure through Southeast Asia.
ABOUT ME
My friends would say that I'm an outgoing and adventurous person who's always looking to keep myself busy and try new things. I'm known for having a sarcastic and fun sense of humour, and being relatively laid back and relaxed. I've spent my last year as an ESL teacher near Seoul, South Korea, and I plan on pursuing a career in teaching upon my arrival back to Canada.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy in life is to stay positive, have fun, and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to CS, but I've heard great things about it from friends. I love meeting new people, especially kind and curious people like those from the CS community, because it really restores my general faith in humanity, and exposes me to so many genuine and lovely experiences. I also think that forming friendships with locals is one of the most important things about travel. Once I have an apartment that I can call my own, I look forward to hosting CS-ers in the future in my hometown.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Unfortunately, I have very little "official" CS experience, however my boyfriend Chris and I have hosted many friends on our couch throughout our year in Korea. Chris and I will also be embarking on a 14 week trip through Southeast Asia shortly, and we have several hosts who have responded to us that we are very anxious to meet. Looking forward to start getting involved as a traveller in the community, and as a host in the future!
Interests
I have many interests that include but are not limited to reading, writing, travel, music, piano, theatre, swimming, biking, food, photography, beaches, hammocks, volleyball, boating, and other outdoor sports.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love to read a good fiction or biographical novel, and here are some that I've read recently that I've liked, or ones that stood out in my memory:
The Book of Negroes - Lawrence Hill
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - Mark Haddon
The Wars - Timothy Findley
The Last Lecture - Randy Pausch
The Giver - Lois Lowry
Room - Emma Donoghue
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - Maya Angelou
As far as music goes, I enjoy almost all genres and don't really have many reservations, aside from overly profane and offensive rap, and some whiney country music. Here are some artists that are top-rated in my iTunes:
The Antlers
Arcade Fire
The Beatles
The Black Keys
Bombay Bicycle Club
Bon Iver
Coldplay
Deadmau5
Death Cab for Cutie
Florence + The Machine
Groove Armada
Jay-Z
Kings of Leon
M83
Metric
MGMT
Mumford & Sons
The Naked and Famous
Phoenix
The Postal Service
Pretty Lights
Queens of the Stone Age
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Sufjan Stevens
Tegan & Sarah
The xx
Weezer
As for movies, I have too many favourites to list! We can talk films when we meet!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
An experience that stands out was 2 years ago, when I was coincidentally in Paris for Bastille Day. I was sitting on a blanket next to my friend Michelle. In true French style, we had a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers. We were surrounded by millions of Parisians on the Champ de Mars to watch one of the most outstanding fireworks shows that I've ever seen, which was enhanced further by a silhouette of the Eiffel Tower. It was a pretty spectacular "my-life-as-a-movie" experience that I won't be forgetting any time soon.
