About Me

CURRENT MISSION

dance, learn, floss, and travel

ABOUT ME

I love to travel, to learn about new cultures, and to meet interesting people. I recently lived in Thailand as a teacher for six months and am now living in Jordan and working for a magazine here. I'll be here for a while, probably a year or more, because so far I absolutely love it. What I love about travelling is how often you can find yourself in the moment - you wouldn't want to be anywhere else but right there. When you're traveling, this happens a lot. I love going someplace and discovering that it is completely different than how its perceived. In fact, not one place I've ever visited has fit its stereotype completely. I'm always up for an adventure and usually enjoy travel nightmares if only for the fun story they inevitably provide.

PHILOSOPHY

If you try hard enough, you can do anything you want. It sounds cliche, I know, but from personal experience it is totally true.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've never crashed on someone's couch, but I've met some really great people through CS. If you're in town and want to meet up for coffee/tea, I'd definitely join.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CS has been invaluable to me here in Amman. I met some great people through CS who made me feel instantly at home, introduced me to all their friends, offered to help me find a job, and helped me find a place to live. After just one week ni Amman, I felt completely at home.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really not all that particular, as long as the movie, book, or music in question doesn't take itself too seriously.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Taking a hot air balloon ride over Wadi Rum, flying a small plane over Aqaba, riding a bike from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea, and otherwise enjoying Jordan's amazing scenery.

Taking a cruise down the Nile and watching the sunset over the desert is definitely one of the more memorable experiences of my life.

Being in Bangkok for Songkran, getting absolutely drenched, and covered in white chalk was also pretty great.

But some of the greatest stories come from when everything goes wrong.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're not traveling during a busy season, don't book a room in advance! It's much better to travel without any time restrictions.

Bring US dollars to Cambodia

Double and triple check that you're following all visa regulations.

Never sleep in the train station in Rome.

Air France is a horrible airline. Swiss Air and Korean Air are fantastic.

Bring water with you on all train rides in Morocco, in case the train brakes down in the middle of August, in the middle of the desert.

Ignore anyone who tries to purchase you with camels, or actually, tries to purchase you at all :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cambodia, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Morocco, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Jordan, Thailand
