About Me

I love people. To be more specific, I love what makes people unique. I enjoy learning about new cultures, languages, religions and pretty much anything that's different than myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find that to truly experience somewhere, you can't just stay in a hotel. My wife and I have had occasion to travel quite extensively and on one such trip we were in Barcelona before cruising the Mediterranean, and we made the mistake of staying in a branded American hotel. It was by far the worst experience as visitors to another country. We were surrounded by other American tourists who did not enjoy the culture of Spain, much less Barcelona, and were overwhelmed by the lack of understanding and impatience these tourists displayed. This summer, we will be traveling to Europe and hope to couch surf there or stay in hostels,

Interests

Reading, meeting new people, movies, books, video games, music, learning from my students. I've been reading books I didn't as a child (LOTR/ Hobbit, Tale of Two Cities, To Kill a Mockingbird, Alice in Wonderland/ Through the Looking Glass, etc) and look to expand my collection into newer books as I do so. I love movies, but hate movie trailers because I feel they always give too much away. I enjoy all types of music but rock (alt., classic, hard, punk, metal, etc) and classical are probably my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent 10 weeks in Spain over two summers. I would without a doubt live in Spain at the drop of a hat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've traveled and seen some of the world, but because my experience is limited to Western Civ, I definitely want to see other cultures. SW Asia and the East Asian corridor are my next desired stops.
