About Me

As Helen Keller put it, "Life is either a great adventure or nothing", and I don't want my life to be nothing. So I've recently made the decision to sell everything I own and travel the world with my bag and my guitar. I have no permanent residence at the time; I just keep moving around from place to place like some hero in an old story. I'm grateful to all the people (and there have been a lot) who have helped me along the way. I can't wait to see what tomorrow holds :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had been using Airbnb when traveling a few years back and enjoyed it tremendously; my time away from home was made more memorable by the people with whom I was able to stay. But Couchsurfing takes it to the next level. Hosts are not interested in making money, they're interested in making gains that have no monetary value because those things, like all the best things in life, cannot be bought. The aspect of meeting new people, (hosts, fellow travelers, etc) excites me tremendously. I love collecting stories and learning about others. The more people with whom I connect, the more I feel connected to the world and life itself, so I choose to couchsurf. I cannot offer accommodation to travelers myself right now (because I have no residence to offer) but you can be sure if I ever stop anywhere for longer than a month and have a space to share, my door will be open for any brother or sister who'd like to walk in.

Interests

I have run the Chicago marathon 3 times, New York City and Berlin once, and plan on running many, many more. Music is life to me, you cannot separate the song from the man. I love the minds of Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens, as well as the stories of Jack London. Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown" series is pure art to me, and comedy is just as important an art form as any other. Jim Morrison is my spirit animal and eating good Mexican food is always something of a religious experience for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Currently living the most significant decision I've ever made, the one that is of the most paramount importance. The point in my life I'll look back on and say, "this is where everything changed", for better or worse. Left everything behind to chase adventure and unknown territory. "You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore"
