About Me

I DON'T COLLECT FRIENDS, but I am very happy to add guests as friends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I usually check in here around 6 am to check for messages, requests, etc., so if you are wanting a couch and need it the same day, I suggest you message me via Facebook under the same name as it will go to my mobile/cell phone. Just mention you sent a CS request and I will check it.

We relocated to Toowoomba recently and it will be nice to meet people as they pass through or if they are moving into town and need a place to stay a few days until they get sorted out. The last 13 photos are of our Unit in Toowoomba where we live and the first ones are our last house back in Maryborough.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aussie guy with a teenage daughter. I lived in SW Qld for 3 years running a small country pub, Japan for 2 years and in China for 14 years. I like meeting people from all walks of life - but I am not looking for a partner in life lol). I enjoy hearing about your country and culture as well as enjoy trying to make you feel at home, comfortable and happy.

We are an easy 25 minute walk into the CBD and Grand Central Shopping Plaza, about 30 minutes walk to either Clifford Gardens or else Toowoomba Plaza Shopping Centers. It is just 6klms to USQ and the Japanese Gardens and there are 2 nearby buses you can catch.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It is a great way to meet new people from a diverse background and many friends can be made. My teenage daughter especially has enjoyed meeting other young people (as well as older) from different cultures as it helps her to get a better understanding of this big world we all share.

My daughter may be a teenager but she is very smart and mature for her age and she mixes with all ages and is open to chat with anyone staying here and if on a weekend she is open to going out for the day with you and show you around the town. She has varied interests from singing, piano, violin, drums, drawing, cooking, reading, as well as going for long walks or country drives, etc. We love to open our doors to invite travelers in and get to know them, we love to share a meal and a few stories.

As we only moved to this area (Toowoomba, April 2019), we will be like you and just checking many places out from time to time, so we may as well do it together. We have 1 single bed upstairs in the living room that we are using as a spare bed. Downstairs there are a shower and toilet as well as a fully equipped kitchen, a fridge, deep freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, plates etc and a small gas cook-tops.

Interests

My daughter and I like to go for "tourist drives" around the area, and you will be more than welcome to share the trips. We have a 2 room tent as well as 2 king size double swags, and most of the camping gear needed for a weekend or a week away so feel free to let us know what you would like to do and we maybe can share the experience with you. We also have a 6'x4' trailer and a roof basket so storage for gear etc is no worry.

Music, Movies, and Books

I thoroughly enjoy and recommend Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" series of books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Staying on a Dairy/Rice farm in Japan many years ago I had the chance to not only help deliver a calf, but I was asked by the farmer to lead 3 calves around the auction ring. The locals had never seen a white western person, let alone had one in their auction ring.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life, Food, Chat, Experience, Fun Stories.

If you are musical daughter has a full size violin and we have an 88 key Korg Electric keybord as well as a lot of old sheet music.

Countries I’ve Visited
