About Me

Spring 2019 bear with me as I continue what seems to be an on-going travel journal of a profile:
I have settled down for a while in SE NM and should be able to host.
I am near the world-famous Carlsbad Caverns and also within an hours drive of the highest mountain peaks in Texas.
Now that I have finally taken up residence in New Mexico, I also hope to venture out and explore this Land of Enchantment. I may ask your help in a stop-over along the way. And, I hope to share some of these adventures!

Happy Travels~

Autumn 2017 update! November.
I'm going on a road trip! (which often triggers a thought of Couchsurfing (which I don't do a whole lot))
Going to circle New Mexico, stopping in on Historic Sites (Pueblo culture) and natural wonders (white sands, carlsbad caverns, mountains, the Land of Enchantment..etc..)
And round back by Big Bend in Texas. Might check out Austin, too. Should be a great trip!
(maybe you'll join me for part of the adventure?)

I'll be mostly aboding within my one or other of my trusty tents.
However couch (+shower!) will certainly be occasionally desired : )

And making new friends along the way. Once I'm back to North Carolina, I may be in a position to host.

~ old news, but in case you were wondering what I've been doing here:
Winter 2017 update!
I am still working as a seasonal Park Ranger, and I try to make the most of exploring and adventuring in my off-season, which is now! This winter, instead of freezing in Asheville, I decided to migrate south and explore all that Florida has to offer. So far, when I've gotten out and about, I've been hiking thru pine forests and along swamp boardwalks. I've gotten out and boated thru the coastal mangroves. I have camped in S.FL national parks. And, I've made the circuit of SW FL disc golf courses. I love the sunshine in the Sunshine State!

Now, I'm hoping to do a little recon in the regional cities and towns in which I may consider residing in the future. I'm especially interested in visiting areas that offer not only natural beauty and quality of life, but also young people, young families, and at least a tad more night life (ie. live music, art events, etc.)

The Tampa Bay area and St. Petersburg are on the list. So, if you receive a couchsurf request from me, you'll know what I'm after. I may also venture over to the Atlantic Coast in the next month as well.

Summer 2016 update!
I am again abroad (from Asheville : )
Further up the Blue Ridge Parkway, I'm now working at Peaks of Otter. Would love to assist BRP travelers in any way I can. I am traveling thru the Northern Virginia area myself, often backpacking, but want to check out the local towns too--I may beg of your couch space ; )

I have lived in Asheville and North Carolina for about nine years. I grew up in Georgia and spent a good handful of years living on the North Coast of California.

My recent lifestyle has been a more sedentary one and has lacked regular travel (besides the regional backpacking/hiking trip or the annual pilgrimage to the coast). I am an avid gardener--I suppose the needs of the veggie garden keep me at bay during the warmer months. However, I do have a valid passport. And, perhaps Couchsurfing will also encourage more travel?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be working along the NC coast for the summer and fall 2015. I don't know many people with couches between here (Asheville) and there, and I will begin making some regular travel between points A and B. My first trip, coming up in the next week, will be a motorcycle journey, mostly for the purposes of relocating. I'd like to first take advantage of Couchsurfing to find amenable host(s) for brief overnight stay(s) during this adventure. In the future, I'd like to take more time with travel, meet more people in North Carolina and beyond, and be a host for other Couchsurfers.
