About Me

I'm Brian. Just an aspiring adventure videographer finally getting to do some traveling and growing on a larger scale than staying in my hometown and working an office job. I'm a pretty outdoors passionate guy but I'm not Muir or McCandless.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Taking a hiatus from taking things a bit too seriously and finally doing some traveling and adventuring outside of my home state. I've got a list of cities to check out and hopefully learn enough about to get a real feel for living there. In the end I'd like to find out what cities I might actually settle down in and work. Plenty interested in meeting people, hearing stories, and gaining some valuable perspective.

Interests

I am an Ultra-runner and Climber who partakes in a lot of other mountain culture. So you shouldn't be too surprised if you see me playing some folk music on guitar or ukulele, slacklining, camping, and gazing at the natural surroundings. On my artsy side I carve necklaces out of bone, take photographs and edit as well as some videography. Always interested in hearing what people have to say over a drink on a nice patio. Something I can offer from my southwestern background is a fun night of Two-stepping. Other dancing works as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rolling Stones, Strokes, Blink 182, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Bruce Springsteen, Tallest Man on Earth, Lumineers, Summer Twins, Allman Brothers Band, Jack Johnson, Kacey Musgraves, Passion Pit, Hop Along, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blind Pilot, Bahamas. Lots more as I keep discovering.

127 hours, Unbranded, Everest, Into the Wild, Game of Death, Shaun of the Dead, Amelie, Sunrise(1927), My Man Godfrey, Singing in the Rain, Hugo, Up, Ratatouille, The Good the Bad the Weird, 13 Assassins, Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Born to Run, the Last American Man, Freedom of the Hills, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, Comic Books. Still reading/getting into it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 26 hours I managed to run/walk/hobble 77 miles during the Javelina Jundred Ultramarathon in the hot and sunny day and cold night.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm more than willing to teach someone to jam on the ukulele or climb outdoors but maybe that's something for the professionals. Any of my odd skill sets I'd be absolutely ecstatic to share. We can do some photography or make some cool bone carvings as well. Share stories and sing songs.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am always more than happy to drop by with a 6 pack of your favorite drink and make you breakfast but if you want to take things slow I would love to sit, chat, play some music, and share some stories. More than happy to reimburse. Never meaning to cause any trouble but definitely wanting the experience to work well for both parties.
