About Me

27 years old. Naturalist and scholar. I enjoy bicycling, music, and the works of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett. Long walks on the beach are not much my thing, but give me a forest to explore and I'm quite content. I find old buildings neat too!

When not busy with work or classes, I'm happy to meet up for a few beers or a coffee.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My work and education tend to lead me to far away places - be it for collecting insect specimens, for taking courses abroad, or for visiting museum collections. Unfortunately, there isn't always ample funding for such trips and one has to occasionally rely on the hospitality of others and either repay as possible or pass on the favor other travelers.

I also enjoy travelling for pleasure, and the ability to stay with locals can often make the experience far more enjoyable!

Interests

I enjoy the natural sciences, with a particular focus on zoology. I also like history - with a particular interest in the iron and bronze ages. I am a bit of an outdoorsman and go hiking and camping when I can. Music is fairly important to me.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are rather eclectic, but I must admit that I listen to a great deal of heavy metal and hard rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had the opportunity to literally stand atop the peak of the Mountain of Death - Cerro de la Muerte is the highest point in the Costa Rican section of the Inter-American Highway. Its name means "Mountain of Death", since in the past many ill-prepared travelers succumbed to the cold and rain which is common atop the 3000 meter peak.

Teach, Learn, Share

Entomology - the study of insects - is my passion. My experience in this field of science is still young, but if you have any questions - "What's this bug? What does it do? " - I'm happy to try to answer them!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Recently moved to Tempe. Not well enough established with current roommate yet to guarantee a couch to sleep on, but maybe in the future!
