About Me

I moved to South Korea to teach English as a second language. My eyes were opened to traveling during the 3 years here. I've been all over the country and have been to many awesome or interesting places places like the Boseong Green Tea fields, Halasan mountain, Ullengdo and the Gyeongju. I've tried to go off the beaten trail and head out to smaller towns in Korea to see and experience the rural areas, too. I love Korea and have devoured Korean history books, enjoy listening to the most popular kpop and am learning (albeit very slowly...) the language.

I believe traveling is good for the soul. It forces you into new situations where you can learn and also offers moments of peace for calm reflection. I think traveling anywhere allows for new perspectives to form and for people to grow.

I want to see, experience, share, grow, listen and learn by traveling our planet with the time that I have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To ensure that I meet the best people of the country that I am travelling in :D

Interests

Hiking is my go to activity but when the mountains get worn out I turn to books. Recently I've read 1984, The Heart of Darkness, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Old Man and the Sea, and Colourless Tsukuru Tazkaki.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My friend and I once hiked from the peak of Apsan (mountain #1) to the peak of Biseulsan (mountain #2) in the dead of night. It took over 14 hours. We were advised by many other hikers to turn back, but we prevailed. At one point we had to hike around some wild boars. Later, we ran out of water and were seriously dehydrated. Just when we were about to turn around we stumbled across a temple and were able to refill our bottles at a mineral spring. Finally, at 2 am we made it to our destination. We slept at the peak of the mountain, woke up to see the sunrise, and made our way back home.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English conversation! Or specific TOEFL answering strategies if that would serve your needs O.o

I can teach you how to roll your clothes for easy backpacking.

It's not for everyone, but if you are open to it, I love to hear and just listen to what people think about life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Conversation; on just about anything. Light and fluffy, or deep and serious; I like it all.

A willingness and enthusiasm to learn and listen.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, South Korea
