About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See some of the USA while living with my son in Faribault, MN before returning to my home in Toodyay, Austrailia
ABOUT ME
I grew up on a dairy farm in Australia till I was 24, then left to contract as a small-seeds contractor in the Esperance area. I was awarded a "Conditional Purchase Property", which I developed into a farm. I stayed there 30 years. The reason I left was b/c of a crisis in the wool industry, and the Australian govt paid us $2/head to dispose of them, and our lives changed drastically. My wife and I then left to live in Perth, which is in Western Australia. I am divorced and spent the last 2 years traveling Australia, where I worked in Darwin, Northern Territory. I have learned that you don't really know a group of people until you have lived among them.
PHILOSOPHY
Some words of wisdom I live by are: "Live and Let Live", "Easy Does it", and "The World is my Oyster." I appreciate what a small part of the universe I am, like a grain of sand on the beach.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to couchsurfing and was introduced to it by a friend from Texas whom I met in Minnesota. He has couch-surfed and advised me that I would meet interesting people and enjoy traveling in this manner while seeing the USA. Also, that I would enjoy meeting couch-surfers when returning to Australia. I would love to host you if you come to visit my country.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am traveling the USA at the moment, and am enjoying my first CS experience in Akron, OH. If other CS experiences are like this one, its one of the greatest thing I've ever done in my life! I look forward to hosting others when I get back to Australia.
Interests
I am interested in many things. I enjoy History, especially the great battles of WWII and to think of all the young lives lost around the world. I like Museums because they tell of why a people group settled where they did, and how their lives evolved. I am interested in Agriculture and how to develop a lifestyle using it. I am curious about hardy plants that are beautiful and require very little maintenance. Gardens that are professionally manicured intrigue me, and are an absolute joy. I love old Churches and Cathedrals. My interest in them developed from having been to The York Minster Cathedral, UK, and the sense of spirituality it gave me. Also, that it took 250 yrs to build, and the builders stayed focused on the project for 7-8 generations.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a Variety of movies, especially those based on a true story. I like nostalgia of the 60's, & books about the Australian Outback. I also like to read both Biographies and Auto-biographies of common people. I enjoy the Internet, and today's technology, etc, even though I am new to it. I am fond of The Beatles and ABBA, and a little Country and Western.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Its not a big thing in my home town, but I guess not many people have gone fishing among the crocodiles; its a bit of a challenge if they jump up in your boat. I was among approx 3 million people (that is what was reported) in one of Lenin's Squares in the Ukraine, and you dare not lose your balance and fall, lest you be trampled. Remarkable memory.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a good listener, and I love to swap travel stories & experiences. I would enjoy sharing anything I know about Australia (and anything I don't know, I'll make up!!). I also appreciate learning about where I am traveling now.
