About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I do GIS support on contract for CALFIRE and snowboard all the little out-of-the way resorts I can

ABOUT ME

I am a 36-year-old person originally from Palo Alto, CA who has also lived in San Luis Obispo; Santa Cruz; Phoenix, AZ; and Sacramento (current).

I enjoyed a lot of typical outdoorsy stuff when I was growing up (climbing/backpacking/kayaking/skiing etc) which led me to a degree and a few professional jobs in forestry.

In 2010, I was in a fairly bad motorcycle accident, my left arm was paralyzed and I eventually had it amputated. As a result of that, I decided to go back to school and research the use of remote sensing and geographical information systems in planning post-forest-fire response. I'm currently working for a small consulting firm that contracts GIS and planning work for the BLM in Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:

Dune. The first couple Enders Game books, before Orson Scott Card got all crazy. I will read anything by Philip Dick, Ken Kesey, Chuck Palahniuk, or Isaac Asimov.

Movies:

I will watch any documentary on Netflix which means I suffered through 'Until the Light Takes Us' but on the plus side I learned about MC Frontalot.

I really like every Jim Jarmusch movie I've seen.
