I'm a news photographer for ABC in Miami. There's no better city for news than this one.

In 2013, I married Kristen and we bought a house together. We worked so hard to get to where we're at, and now's the time it seems like all of our investments are really paying off.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am an advocate for kindness and understanding every day.
When I was single and hosting travelers on the regular, I learned a lot about people, myself, and how the Internet is changing the way we all relate to each other.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One of my favorite experiences was in DC for Obama's Inauguration. My friend Ryan hadn't spoken to his cousin in 20 years. We lost our place to stay, and were in jam. Terrance picked us up from the airport, took us to his little one-bedroom condo where the three of us took over the living room floor. We partied in the Adams-Morgan area of town that night, and did Inauguration the next day. He was a great host, got us straightened out in the city at a hectic time, and gave us the kind of trip you tell your kids about.

When you take a photo, look at the whole frame. What's your subject? If it's people, they should take up the whole frame. Shoot tight. It makes for better pictures.

If you're taking a picture with a cell phone and have a second phone with a flashlight, use it as fill light on your subject's faces.
