About Me

I'm a Chicago native I am working as a dietitian at a cancer treatment center in Chicago. Previously, I was teaching adults English as a Second Language at our local community center.

My longest trip was a 4-month solo trip around central Europe where I was volunteering for a terribly run organization, ended up taking a train to Oktoberfest a month in and spent the remainder of my trip enjoying unencumbered freedom.

My most eye-opening trip was to Cuba in June 2017. What a colorful and unashamedly different place that just so happens to be extremely close to the U.S.

And finally, my most recent international trip was to Thailand in Feb 2018. Fuck you, Covid.

I love scuba diving, record playing, dive bar exploring, concerts, bike rides, cooking... and more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First and foremost, connecting with others is my main motivation for traveling. I want to stay with locals and do as the locals do. I want to forge lasting friendships around the globe, bounce ideas off of each other, collaborate in cooking meals and share travel stories with each other.

I also like to pay it forward by hanging out with couchsurfers in Chicago who would like to be shown around by little old me. I know some great dive bars and off-the-beaten path things to do in town!

Likewise, if I am couchsurfing with you, I'd like to know what your favorite local bar is, where to listen to a great live-music show, where the best cheap eats are, and what the weirdest local oddities are in your city. Hopefully we can trade stories and explore together!

Interests

Hiking, local events, music (rock, indie, Classical, electronic), eating local food, swimming, hiking, skiing, museums, philosophical conservation, shenanigans, watching the sunrise in empty places in the city.

My 10 year plan? Cool every page in my passport before it expires.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The Little Prince, The Alchemist
Music: Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Andrew Bird, Radiohead, The Shins, Fleet Foxes, etc etc. I love house/funk music as well as lots of other stuff!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched the sunrise over the Danube in Vienna while skinny dipping with swans.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can offer good cooking, laughter, and great conversation. I've recently been learning Tarot so I'd be happy to give you a reading!

What I Can Share with Hosts
