About Me
Hello !!
I had to deactivate my old account because I forgot the password to my old email... so I lost my reccomendations, but I am a past host/surfer
My nickname is Bean, and I refer to it more often than my birth name, so please feel free to do the same! I have an endless lust for travel, and new adventures. I am naturally outgoing and a lil quirky, but am a social chameleon who can adapt to multiple personality types or whatever the vibe seems fit. I am fascinated by people and enjoy hearing different experiences and stories.
I am just graduating from Humboldt State University and am taking a year off to travel before graduate school !
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Not only is the benefit of a free stay awesome, but the people you meet along the way are far more valuable.
Humboldt County is infamous for it's weed culture and I have personally housed many travelers who come in during the season. During this, I was exposed to so many different cultures, hobbies, languages, food ect.. that I realized I should really put myself out there as well !
Interests
I currently partake in swing dancing, painting, and roller derby in my free time. However, I am generally down to try anything, so I have taken a gander at slack lining, rock climbing, kayaking, white water rafting and other funtivities or crafts.
I love baking, cooking, and trying new restaurants. Sometimes the food is the highlight of my travels just because I am sorta a glut.

Music, Movies, and Books
Live music is my therapy, and crowd surfing is my hobby.
I thoroughly enjoy any music that makes me swoon my hips or shake my thang. So generally, all music !
I have gone to at least 5-6 different festivals and plan on doing more international ones since I am graduated. I've been to at least 5,000 shows in my lifetime... so if I'm crashing and there's live music around I am more than down!
Fav bands include : Thee oh sees, Beach Boys, Girlpool, Upset
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I traveled abroad in Florence Italy in 2012, which I then extended my travels to all over Italy, Spain, Ireland, Germany and France.
I saw Iggy Pop in Italy on my birthday, which was beyond dreamy
I am a sucker for road trips and in the last two years I have :
- Visited 5+ hot springs in California and Oregon
- Sled down White Sands National Monument in New Mexico
- Camped in the Grand Canyon
- Drank my way through Austin TX
- Enjoyed NYE in New Orleans
- Played in the rives of Arizona- Nevada
- Backpacked the Lost Coast of California
-Backpacked Kauai, Hawaii
- Swam in the cenotes of Cancun Mexico
& probably more that I can't think of at this moment
Teach, Learn, Share
I am going to graduate school to be a Sociology professor with a social ecology emphasis. I hope to work with non-profits or other environmental organizations to educate individuals on sustainability, policy and to empower impoverished communities through grass roots activism.
I currently am a freshman student mentor, and assist and facilitate resources to help first generation students navigate through the system and their new found responsibilities.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My bubbly outgoing, yet laid pack personality.
Also depending on my traveling accessibility I do not mind sharing some of my baked goods!
