ABOUT ME

We met doing service learning work in New Orleans, left being in love with the city and starting a love of our own! We are pretty laid back people, usually both focused in our studies, but still always ready to enjoy and explore the wonderful world we live in.

PHILOSOPHY

This haiku that Alan wrote pretty much describes both of our personal philosophy:

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since Alan hasn't done too much traveling, I will speak for myself and say I wish I knew about it sooner, but I figured it's never too late to start! We don't really have our own couch to offer just yet, but we are hoping to meet some fun, refreshing, and delightful people who might just be sucker enough to host us! Just a joke! =]

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We couchserved in Vancouver, British Columbia and had an absolutely amazing experience! It exceeded our exceptions by far. Met wonderful people and explored the city with a greater insight. =]

兴趣

We love all types of art! Briana loves photography and usually always has her Nikon D40X handy to capture the moments. You can say Alan is obsessed with graffiti and underground hip hop. We like to mix up our interests, which means in our travels we often go graffiti hunting so Alan can enjoy and Briana can take pictures! We're both English majors, which means we have a huge passion for literature! We get excited when we see a bookstore to go into and can spend hours on the floor reading poetry out loud to each other. We enjoy engaging in cultural activities, and doing any community activist work (particularly issues focused around Education and Immigrant Rights) we have the time for. That's not to say that we don't like to let our mind rest sometimes, enjoy company with buena gente and share some laughs. Spending time with the family is very important to us: goofying around with Briana's younger cousins, playing boardgames with the entire family, going to the movies with the siblings, etc.

Alan mostly listens to underground hip-hop, artists like Dead Prez, Binary Star, Gangstarr, Jedi Mind Tricks, etc. Briana's music depends on her mood and includes all genres, but Lauryn Hill is definitely one of her favorites. Authors include Wright, Faulker, Kerouac, Herman Hesse, Morrison, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Steinbeck, classics like Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton and Marlowe. It's really a lot longer list but we'll just keep it short.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Briana: Michelangelo's David was so much more impressive than I ever imagined it would be. Seeing my little siblings after a year without seeing them was pretty amazing too! =)

Alan: I've painted graffiti in my parent's hometown in Mexico. Been to the spot where Cortez first established base in the Americas. Seen the Mayan pyramids.
