About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To bike across the world

ABOUT ME

Avid cyclist. Admitted geek.

PHILOSOPHY

Discordian pastafarianism.

Interests

I love my bicycle and everywhere that it takes me. Los Angeles is actually a great place to bike and offers a lot to cyclists, despite its car-centric ideals.

I'm really drawn into art and fashion, but only as a bystander. I'm always intrigued by styles that blend old and new world such as the steampunk movement. Sadly, I have no artistic talent and instead prefer to vicariously live out my artist fantasies through friends, galleries, and museums.

As an engineer, I love the DIY mantra. Last year I started brewing beer with friends and learned all the subtltes of crafting a frosty glass of beer. I recently built a pair of 18 inch high stilts and then broke them while playing frisbee in them. Up next are 4 foot stilts! And before the year is over I'm hoping to build a couch-cycle.

Music is also a big part of my life, but I never have enough time to keep up with it all.

Good food is essential to my continued living. The best part of traveling anywhere is tasting the local cuisine. I'm an omnivore, but very vegetarian friendly -- so if you're veggie/vegan it's not a problem. My staple foods on the west side are generally Mexican and Japanese. My favorites also korean (great for veggies), sichuan, and lebanese.

I really like bees, lions, and raccoons, cause they're just so darn cool.

Music, Movies, and Books

My all-time favorite movies include Blade Runner, Rashomon, Dune, Howl's Moving Castle, Cube, Mall Rats, and the works of Monty Python.

I listen to a lot of random music. My current favorite artists are Toro y Moi, Daft Punk, Do Make Say Think, The Arcade Fire, Ryland Bouchard, and Ben Gibbard. Other bands I listen to include Camera Obscura, Maserati, Grandmaster Flash, Justice, Jenny Lewis, Bad Religion, Squarepusher, Prodigy, Underworld, Magda, Nine Inch Nails, The Spacetwins, Owen, Imitation Electric Piano, and The Decemberists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Seeing 40,000 people create a temporary city in the middle of the desert. Incredible.
- Eating live octopus tentacles in Korea.
- Seeing the sunset from 6 miles above the earth.
- Skydiving
