Hey Everyone.

My name is Brian, I'm 25 years old and I'm brand new to couch surfing. Since I haven't built up any references yet, I wanted to at least have a detailed "About Me" section.

I recently graduated from Appalachian State University and live in North Carolina. Right now I make a steady income from digital marketing consulting and have the luxury of being able to work from anywhere I want, as long as I have a decent Wi-Fi connection. I love to go out, explore new places and meet new people. A few drinks, good food and some interesting company is all I really need.

I've been living in the same college town for almost 7 years now and I've known for quite some time that I need to move on; the problem is that my lease is about to end mid July and I still have no idea what I want to do with my life. I'm 25, no kids, never been married, don't have a ton of bills or responsibilities and figured this might be the only time in my life to do something crazy. So, why not spend the next few months traveling the country and working on-the-go while I sort it all out?

I've got friends/family in a few cities spread out over the country where I know I've got a place to stay, but was looking to check out other cities as well... that's where I remember hearing about couch surfing and figured I'd give it a try. If I end up visiting a place that I really like, great, if not, maybe I'll have a few cool stories to tell my friends back home.

My main goal is to have a good time! I'd love to meet some awesome/funny/weird people that want to go out, grab some good eats, a couple of drinks and show me what their city is all about. When my lease ends, I plan on selling everything I own that I don't need/can't fit in my car and hitting the open road!

I love stand-up comedy, 90's music, trying new food, going out on the town, making new friends and challenging my opinions about the world. When I do go out for drinks, I'd take a cool Irish Pub over a night club any day. I've skateboarded on and off ever since I was a kid, sometimes going years without stepping on a board. Therefore I never got too good at it, but recently I've gotten back into it as a casual hobby and fun way to stay in shape. Finding some people that are also into skateboarding would be a plus, but is by no means a requirement!

My music playlist always changes but I really like The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and just started listening to Tame Impala. I can also listen to 80's classics like David Bowie, Hall & Oates or The Talking Heads. Don't count me out for 90's hip hop or modern radio music because I enjoy that too.

My favorite movie off the top of my head is probably The Shining, although its hard to say because my favorite genre is "Crime Dramas", like The Departed or Catch Me If You Can. I really love movies and sometimes my friends and I will even watch shitty movies that are "so bad, they're good", just for the novelty.

Honestly, I don't read that many books, I did have a favorite book growing up called Hatchet, (its probably the only required reading I had in grade school that I actually read cover to cover). With that said, I do read a ton of news articles and try to keep up with politics, as well as listen to a couple interesting podcasts.

I don't know if you would call it amazing, but I used to be really big into online poker during my first few years of college and won a few decent sized tournaments. One time I played in this big tournament and placed just short of clinching a seat in the World Series of Poker Main Event. To this day I still think about how close I came to completing one of my all time bucket list goals.

As far as teaching, I think it's hard to say... I'm really a jack of all trades, master of none type person. A couple weird novelty things I can do pretty well are beatboxing and chugging a beer really fast, lol. I'm always willing to learn new things though and I hope to share some unique experiences with the people I meet on my trip.

Good company. Want to do something spontaneous? Great, I'm in! Want to veg out and watch a movie? I got you covered! All that I'll be bringing with me on my trip are my clothes and some personal belongings, but I can cook a mean breakfast and I've got a secret family recipe to the best Caesar Salad you'll ever taste in your life. Also I have a Netflix account! Otherwise, I'm a pretty good listener and a non-judgmental person. That's all I can really think of on the top of my head but I'm sure I'm leaving some stuff out!
