About Me

ABOUT ME

I love to travel. I have worked many different jobs but my passion for travel always seems to take over. I am working my way around the world, trying to become a " jack of all trades". I grew up on a farm in the mountains and am no stranger to hard work, but for the last five years I have been working as a fashion designer and clothing maker in New York City, but decided to move back to Vermont. I am very interested in learning folk traditions, story telling, music, but especially anything that relates to the arts of sewing, knitting and weaving. I am very fun and happy person. I like to help keep people smiling. I am looking to find a place with a good community where people are open to learning and sharing their knowledge.

“Run from what's comfortable. Forget safety. Live where you fear to live. Destroy your reputation. Be notorious. I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now on I'll be mad.” -- Rumi

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing to meet new people and experience different cultures from around the world. It's always hard to get a real vibe from a city if you are only passing through for a few days, so it is nice to meet someone who is living there and can give a little guidance on where to find the best, art, food, music and culture a place has to offer, but really it is to meet people. I think relationships with friends are some of the most important things to cherish in life and sometimes you can meet someone for 2 days and feel like they are a better friend than a person you have know for 15 years.

Interests

In my free time I am usually sewing something, climbing something or riding my bike. I love to go swimming and am always up for a new adventure. I have a hard time sitting still. I find that some of the obese evenings I have had in my life come about randomly and usually involved a few shared beers and good conversations with people I just met.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like vonnegut I've read a lot by him but always find different meaning when I re read. When I travel I love to read bill bryson. I like books on linguistics and all sorts of non fiction about the world. I have a giant collection of national geographic I can't live without. I dislike reading pretty much anything on the computer.

I like to listen to all different types of music from around the world... from Amadou et Mariam, to banda conmocion, to sinn sisamouth and a lot of classic rock from the U.S. and Britain. Folk singers always remind me of my mom, but I am always curious to find local bands and musicians wherever I travel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I never know what to write here, maybe its modesty but
I never think that things I have done are all that amazing. I have been lucky enough to be able tot travel and learned how to do it with almost nothing. I have done plenty of stupid stunts, usually after being encourage by 19 year old kids with unlimited energy and no fear of their impending deaths...like jumping off extremely high cliffs and repelling down waterfalls with rope that is nearly coming apart. Hiking up a mountain with no food, no water and no idea where we were going except up and over, only to get washed out by a flash flood and nearly getting stuck by lightening.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to teach a lot of art and sewing classes in new york. I love to share new ideas and to hear about peoples plans for the future travels
I love to daydream

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love listening to stories and could share some of my own if you are interested. Language exchange and being inspired for new artistic projects.
