We are proof that opposites attract! Travis comes from the frozen north-aka Buffalo, and I hail from the sunny south in Charlotte NC. Travis has a keen analytical mind and I am artist through and through. But we both share a love of travel, good food and drink, doggies-particularly our pup Wallie- and experiencing a new place like a local.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I truly believe the best way to really experience a place is to live like a local! I have had so many incredible experiences off the tourist track that I won't ever look back! Whether its staying in AirBnB, WOOFing, HelpX, couchsurfing or house sitting I want to be were life actually happens. I have been deeply blessed by the travel gods to have met, lived with and worked beside some of the most generous, kind people traveling in this manner, and I'll keep going until its my turn to play host!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most music, but if I had to choose I'd say Classic Rock tops my personal charts, but I also have a soft spot in my heart for folk music, motown, and 80's pop. Of course if you want to sing musicals with me we can be best friends! I am a voracious reader, mainly non-fiction these days, but give me a good fantasy fiction or science fiction and I'm in! My movie tastes range from sci-fi to action films, documentaries, classic movies and of course gotta love a good rom-com.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I have done is travel the world! I was living in New York City, then LA and decided I needed a change, so I up and moved to Alaska for 6 months, then to New Zealand. I spent 15 months traveling, staying some places only a week, others for several months. It was such a drastic change from the life I had previously led-from big cities to beautiful tiny towns, and I can say without a shred of doubt that it was the best decision I ever made.

Travis claims his most memorable experience so far is participating in the Disney College Internship Program. He spent a semester driving the truck on a “2 week safari” (aka 30 minute tour 😂). In that time he made great friends and got to spend time around animals that not are not your average encounter in south Florida!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been a dancer my whole life, and before going traveling, and even a little during my travels I have been teaching dance. Now that I’m not traveling as much I teach Ballroom, Latin and Swing dancing. I also practice the circus art aerial silks. I am happy to share these with you, but I am equally happy to share some of the amazing recipes I have picked up over the years and super keen to pick up some new ones! I love making friends over a good meal!
