Overview
About Me
I grew up in Hong Kong, where the smoggy concrete jungle hides a surprising number of hiking trails, and now Chicago, where there's always a weird neighborhood or a new space to encounter. Now I'm wrapping up a degree in Economics and English Literature at the University of Chicago.
Always excited for my next adventure. There's a geeky side to me - economics, mechanism design, programming - as with a literary, artsy side - I write poetry, and am fascinated by the internet. Friends say I'm warm, nerdy, and curious, with surprising things to say, always willing to try out new things.
I've tried out couch-surfing informally within the United States, and when I was studying abroad in Europe, and have always learnt something new about the world and our places within it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I'm a student living in a dorm room, I'm only surfing for now, though I can't wait to host intrepid travellers when I get settled into a real apartment in Chicago by Fall 2016. (But do send me a message if you happen to swing by Chicago or Hong Kong!)

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC: Spend too much time on it. Pavement, Kanye West, Sleater-Kinney, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Oneohtrix Point Never, Kendrick Lamar, The Ramones, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Childish Gambino.
For classical, I'm admittedly spotty, but I often return to Bach's partitas and Beethoven's chamber music when I want to brood. For jazz, I like ecstatic, free-form off-shoots: Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Ornette Coleman.
MOVIES: anything by Kurosawa, Leos Carax, or Satoshi Kon. Deadpool is such a great movie.
BOOKS: where to start? favorite poet: John Ashbery. favorite novelist: Thomas Pynchon. We can talk more about this.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got interviewed for Time magazine because of a tweet, said hi to Michael Gambon in Paris, and sent off bottle rockets with my friends in an abandoned missile base at 2am in the morning,
What I Can Share with Hosts
Once, in New York, I taught a host basic programming in Python. Other times I've shared jokes and drinks.
