About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Restoring productivity of depleted lands
Restoring fisheries around the world
Balancing carbon in soils and seas
Reversing coral reef bleaching due to lethal overheating

ABOUT ME

Brian Von Herzen obtained his A.B. in Physics, Magna Cum Laude, from Princeton University and his Ph.D. in Computer and Planetary Science from Caltech where he was the recipient of the prestigious Hertz Fellowship (http://www.hertzfoundation.org). While at Princeton, Brian spent four years working closely with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. At Princeton his dissertation was on global climate models and how the Earth's climate changes. During his Caltech years Brian worked on models being developed for terraforming Mars—a problem related to Earth’s climate change challenge. From these experiences he acquired a detailed understanding of the Earth’s carbon cycle and envisioned a solution to global warming using a technology-based complex of natural biogeochemical interactions.
