About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore as many cultures and circumstances as I can to see what life is like for the rest of humanity, and how I can help where it's needed!

ABOUT ME

I'm a very busy boy who will have time to fill this out in detail someday, hopefully. My days are spent going to class, trying to meet new people and understand other lifestyles, and wondering where my next meal will come from. Today I know already - it's going to be schnitzel.

PHILOSOPHY

Everyone has something to teach.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had some truly remarkable couchsurfing experiences in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, and more, and think it's a great community for just about anything. I've actually won speech contests at my university for a speech persuading people to try out this wonderful thing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CouchSurfing helped me to see west-central Europe in a wonderful and complex way during my year and a half there. I made friends and memories that I'll never forget. Now that I'm headed to a big city in the US (finally), I hope to get involved again!

Interests

I've always been a very active reader, especially of the news. I love talking to people from all over the world about what's going on in their hometowns, what this crazy world has in store for them, and coming to appreciate the astonishingly many worldviews that exist. I'm very interested in international health, and plan to volunteer with Doctors Without Borders someday. Of course, that requires I become a health professional first....

Music, Movies, and Books

Long list, of course - the highlights:Music: Classic rock, folk, indie (as long as it doesn't put you to sleep), and you know what? Metal has its place sometimes too.Movies: Network, The Muppet Movie, The Big LebowskiBooks: A Short History of Nearly Everything, The Brothers Karamazov, A Song of Ice and Fire

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Maybe this'll sound odd, but of all the places I've been and things I've seen, one of the best was right here in Greenville, SC. I was shadowing different doctors in a hospital, and the coolest thing I saw by far was a human birth with an OB-GYN. Hokey? Maybe. But these things are cliche for a reason.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to talk news, politics, and geography, but after spending my undergrad learning economics from two VERY different schools, I never really get too set in my ways one way or the other. I love seeing the validity of many different schools of thought and trying to learn where other people are coming from. Meanwhile, if you just can't wrap your head around why one particular group feels the way they do, maybe I can try to explain! (Maybe. There's some real nutjobs out there ;) )

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, India, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
