About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to find a way to make music and community better throughout the world! and to keep the adventurous blood pumping in my veins!

ABOUT ME

Strange...this new section. I think if you take a look at my interests, you'll get a great idea of who I am. I'm an American living in the in the UK for the last 3 years, I'm getting a masters degree in music business at Manchester University and I love CouchSurfing.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't know why I live my life quite yet! But every place I go to, with every person I meet I inch closer to my answer. I think no rock should be left unturned in any aspect of my life. If I pass one by, I'll make sure to turn it over the next pass...

I don't think its the size or the geography of the world that makes its so big, I think it's the people. Getting to know someone only makes that world seem bigger...and strangely smaller too. I love exploring that idea.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

host, surf, gone to / planned several meet-ups. I also write sarcastic references upon request

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One of my old roommates, a fellow CSer introduced to me couchsurfing and has hosted many amazing people. While I was skeptical of how such an organization could exist and continue in a cynical world, I have found that every CSer I've met has been an absolute joy, or a person of interest in the very least. All of the surfers I've spoken with said it's been an amazing experience that I too hope to emulate

Interests

Music--playing and listening and recording and discussing and writing and drawing it! everyone should sing! and play guitar! and piano--and while I'm at it, everyone should sing, again!, Politics, Geography (I'm getting better at drawing Europe from memory! go ahead, quiz me!) Philosophy. I think ugliness and awkwardness and failure are beautiful and celebrated--they are the realest parts of life. I love cooking food almost as much as I do eating it--I'm getting quite good at stir fry . Da-Daism, Conversation, Writing, song-writing, drawing, Laughing. Language, intent, taking pictures of people taking pictures. making eye contact. Understanding and connecting with people. Finding a new way to make someone laugh and smile. traveling. defining the lines within yourself. singing. jumping, very very high! long, cathartic runs. Charcoal sketches. Walking/exploring large cities at night. Getting lost. Sleeping in train stations, water--drinking it is always nice, but swimming in it is twice as nice.

Music, Movies, and Books

Terry Gilliam is brilliant, as is monty python. Any Peter Greenaway movie because they are terrifying and grotesque. Into the Wild, Dr. Strangelove, American History X

I enjoy jazz though I can't play it like I want to. I'm trying to understand and appreciate electronic music now, but it's not always easy. I haven't heard a French DJ remix I haven't liked. Django Reinhardt is my guitar hero and Wes Montgomery makes me smile always. classic rock, hard rock, hard jazz, bop, reggae, 60's pop, do-wop,
beatles (they had to go first!), rolling stones, radiohead, Dylan, Gorillaz, ella fitzgerald, Simon & Garfunkel, the dirty projectors, the police, lou reed, johnny cash, jonathan kriesberg, pat metheny, john frusciante, Queens of the Stone Age, Television, Can, Flying Lotus is interesting.

c.s. lewis, sartre, huxley (time must have a stop is my favorite!), David Foster Wallace, Chuck Klosterman, Bruno Schulz

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I cliff-dove in Cannes, FR. a 20 foot drop, but a 30 foot climb up some jagged rocks....I was jumping in again before i realized I still had rock in my foot! I was limping the rest of the 2 weeks I was trekking Europe, I'll never forget each painful step!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook! I can clean! I would be happy to teach someone a song and sing it with them! Harmony! on all levels, is beautiful thing!

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland
