About Me

I live in Melbourne, Australia and have been for fourteen years since moving up from Hobart in Tasmania, Australia.

I have four pets! A 9yr old pug, a 5yr old fluffy, white cat, a 10yr old python (in a terrarium, under licence) and a Siamese fighting fish. I love animals.

I'm a generous, honest (perhaps candid) and open person, and when invited, I'll chat all night!

I do volunteer work with Deaf people who are intellectually or physically disabled, which is super rewarding and really a lot of fun! It also keeps my Auslan language skills somewhat afloat.

I have just completed a Double Diploma in Community Services and in Case Management after having done work placement working with adults with intellectual disabilities.

I'm not a huge drinker - though I adore cocktails and for them, I can and will go big if given the opportunity haha. I do enjoy the odd beer or wine at a gig and I'm certainly up for a social indulgence. I don't smoke, but if you're up for 4:20, then I'm in!

I'm told I am quite the cook and have a talent for braids, nail art and henna tattooing.

I believe that having a negative or fearful attitude toward anyone or anything is maladaptive to ones soul.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd always wanted to couch surf and I travelled to Canada and then the USA in July/August of 2016 on my own and couch surfed in both countries.

I'd heard along the grapevine that couch surfing is the way to go for the soul - the social aspect being so much more enriching! So true! I love to get to know a local, listen, learn and share stories over a nice bevvie or even an outing - being lead the way!

I have also been to New Zealand with my father for a month in 2000.

Interests

I adore and appreciate all kinds of art and creativity, culinary genius, individuality and style.

I have an interest and curiosity for crystals, learning, healing, wellness, helping others, nature, words, piercings, tattoos, sign language, animals, the environment.

I love camping and I love music and festivals and neeeed to experience more!

Music, Movies, and Books

My love for music stems from a young age and my exposure has been great. I adore most genres, though tend to lean to more organic sounds. I love folk, rock, prog rock, alternative, jazz, blues, funk, RnB, reggae, pop, hard rock, some metal... Bit of everything, smashed together, served hot! Whatever, I love music! :)

I used to sing a lot and play the saxophone and the flute when I was a kid. I loaned the instruments and never owned one and gave it up many years ago. All I own is a ukulele, which I do actually tinker on. I have owned one since age 3. I'd love to play brass again. Soon. Soon!

Movies and theatre are especially my thing and I have a deep, deeeep love with them having grown up as a bit of a performer. Acting is what I excelled in and I'm only now just getting back into it.

I do love to read too. I haven't made a lot of time for the personal enjoyment of it in recent years, being the perpetual student, but I enjoy children's books, fantasy, drama, biography and literature.

People tell me I'm a fantastic writer and that I should write a book myself, but I simply don't know what to write yet...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ran away when I was 17, to Melbourne during year 12 exam time with two of my friends in the middle of the night. We drove to Launceston, sold the car and got the next flight out, which was Melbourne. I moved over permanently the following year!

I gave year 12 another go when I was 22 and completed it. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn! Teach me, oh wise one!

I can teach within my knowledge base to anyone who's keen to learn.

Sharing is caring. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Personality, personal stories and perhaps some wisdom?

Who knows! I am told I am funny, so perhaps we can share a laugh.

I can also give you a henna tattoo if there's henna about, or do your hair (if you're chick with long hair, or hell if you're a dude with long hair and that's how you roll, let's do it!)

I'm pretty good at putting together a good veggie salad and other yummy vegan things, so throw some food at me and I'll see what I can do if I'm around when you're hungry.

I wish I could share my pets, but they cannot travel with me, so I will simply share their photos. :)
