About Me

Hi!

June 2018:
After spending a couple of years at home in Montana (well, not abroad anyways... plenty of trips in the States!) working on our family home and working as a legal secretary, I am about to be taking my little sister to Ireland and Scotland before she heads off to college :D. I went myself a couple of years ago and loved it! We have roots there and she's so excited to see it. This will be her first time abroad and a nice sister trip to spread her wings with.

June 2014:
I'm currently taking a year and a half or so to travel after graduating from an academically intense college since it's a great time in life to do so and the mental space sounded (and has been) lovely. Like most people here, I live to travel, meet people from different cultures, learn about places from people who call it home, and share experiences verbally and actually! I grew up on a little farm in foothills of Montana, went to college in Michigan where I majored in Philosophy + Religion and Psychology with a minor in English Literature (started off as Business...), and have been essentially nomadic in the states since then. I've been to Europe twice before, but in a more structured format, and this is my first time abroad since graduating last May. I love God, learning about people, having intelligent and courteous conversation, admiring the beauty in things, striving to improve the world and I'm working on being a conduit for people to succeed in becoming the best they can be (and I always love to learn how to be better my self). In that light, I love nutrition, fitness, and overall wellness, I analyze things a lot, but am working on just "being", I enjoy cooking and want to keep learning there, I love literature and good movies, and am out to make friends!

Interests

And again ^, although, I could add that my Mom was a horse-trainer and my Dad did Motocross, (I know, how did THAT happen?) so I've ridden horseback (English) my whole life and was pretty serious for a while and have some dirtbiking experience. I also love adventures of almost any kind, especially outdoors/involving hiking or high places and I'm a second-class instrumentalist (violin and voice, with some piano and learning guitar). Other than that, pretty much my Savior, family/friends, philosophy, travel, food, and literature as per above.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm just getting more exposed to music genres now, but I like classical, indy-folk, some pop/hip-hop, oldies, recently introduced to and love reggae, and dance music or anything with a good beat, except that I don't like negative or foul-mouthed music. I listen to a lot of soundtracks (Last of the Mohicans and Pride and Prejudice are the sounds of my soul along with the theme from Schindler's List. Who doesn't like Lord of the Rings, Master and Commander, etc...).

For movies, I like most well-done movies, although I refuse to watch horror, movies - where the only point is gratuitous gore - or vulgar comedies. I love movies with a good mix of drama, action, humor, etc. Some of my favs are Cinderella Man (or really most Russell Crowe movies), St. Ives, The Lord of the Rings, The Last of the Mohicans, Life is Beautiful, It's a Wonderful Life, Schindler's List (only about once every 7 years or so, though), Jane Austen movies, etc.

Books: I've only been really into literature since college and so I'm making up for lost time! I like the classics and historical fiction, as well as academic/informative/philosophical works. Some favorites are Les Miserables (sooo good!), most works by Dickens, Jane Austen novels, To Kill a Mockingbird, and I thought The Lord of the Flies was profound, albeit not exactly pleasant.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was paid to have a green-broke wild-caught keiger mustang in training with me for a few months when I was in high-school. I also thought spontaneously doing the British Isles "solo" (met so many cool people) and backpacking the Thames trail to Oxford, as well as being a student there for a summer session was pretty cool (separate occasions).

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to learn, love to share. Teach me any thing! Ask me anything! See below...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Deep philosophical conversations ;), English riding, if you have the horses :), basic violin, some cooking/baking, basic knitting/crochetting, writing academic papers...? Always interested in conversation and I'm happy to help out with chores and whatnot! I am tidy and try to be as low-maintenance as possible.
