About Me

I have an MS in geology from Indiana University, and I love the earth. The outdoors are my place of worship, so to speak.

I have nearly unlimited interests, but my latest is in being a better me every day. Wherever I end up, I am always look for ways to help folks - to establish and promote better understanding and good will between the people in my community. I love being able to give back to those whose support means the world to me!

Also, I'm a queer person, singer/soundmaker, and folk-rock guitar-beater :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For now, I'm hoping to find folks with whom to stay while relocating to a new part of the country. I hope to make some new friends along the way ^_^

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music is anything that moves me or the body... Hendrix called it "Electric Church". I grew up with classic rock and psychedelia, then got intogrunge and alt rock of the mid 00's, and ultimately fell into progressive metal, jazz (mostly old big-band dancey stuff, but also intimate little ballads), and anything that folks or rocks. Instrumental, envronmental, ambient stuff... it's all particularly good for helping me focus too.

I used to watch more movies and read more books, but I've gotten mostly away from it... Two of my favorite movies are probably Dead Man (Jarmoush, 1995) and Harakiri (Kobayashi, 1962). I read a ton of Jules Verne as a child, but my current favorite and most commonly recommended is Striking Thoughts by Bruce Lee.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've ever did was to work up the courage to be honest with myself and my world, and to act in good faith in accordance with that honesty.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a student of life, people, and the world. I am interested in learning about anything and everything.

Do you get stoked about stuff you're *really* into? Please feel free to share! Nerd out with me, cuz I wanna nerd out with you (if you'll let me, that is) :D

I have a good common sense of most natural systems, in that if I dont actually know how or why things are, I may be able to offer an educated guess that's usually not far off.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Science of all sorts including geology and electronics, music and musicology, dance...

I am a Jill of all trades - very handy with tools, and I love to be helpful! Also, while I'm no pro, I'm not bad with a knife and culinary sense. In the least, I'm happy to assist with cooking and cleaning!

My experience of natural phenomena, and the fascination with life and peoples of all cultures and experiences give me great pleasure. I take even greater pleasure from sharing experiences with others, learning and growing along the way!
