Overview
About Me
An enthusiastic person passionate about youth work, non-formal learning, languages and different education projects. Scared and clumsy but excited to explore and try out things. Will be more than happy to suggest stuff, talk about gender equality, languages, sustainability and many more. I'm also up for a nice beer and boardgames!
When travelling, I always search for rivers, lakes and generally any type of water, street art, cosy cafes and local weird places. Wanna show me your favourite tree? I am up for it!
I also always search for a bicycle - everything's better with the added freedom and wind of cycling!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Ever since back in 2014 when I got even a tiny room for myself for the first time, I knew - I wanna host people. I want to show them the city, I want to talk to them about their travels and suggest something that I see worthy. Latvia is important to me and it's lovely in many ways but it also has many flaws, so I want to put my part in making Latvia a little bit more approachable, accessible, open.
When travelling, I like the "local touch", meaning that I am interested in local stories, weird places that are not listed on travel guides and getting to know people. Travelling to me is also a cosy evening inside with a host playing boardgames and talking.
At the same time I am not a people's person, so very often I choose some other form of accommodation - to feel less dependent, I guess. But I am always up for meeting! :)
Music, Movies, and Books
The last book I liked and "ate" (read very fast but with pleasure) was Factfulness. Before that - I am Malala. I guess, after studies of culture theory and management, that included several years of literature history, I've lost the excitement to read fiction. But I enjoy getting back the wonderful feeling of enjoying a book, so suggestions are welcome!
I listen to postrock, I also enjoy folk vibes (but with a stronger twist to it), and some peaceful guitar-singing stuff. A friend used to say that I don't like happy music and I guess he's kinda right.
