Overview
About Me
In my youth, as an airline employee, I have traveled quite a bit. Now, I really like to spend time in my home where I love my peace and quiet. I'm a keen reader, love music, gardening and other such banal activities.... My Spanish husband has retired three years ago and has since then unlimited time to go where he pleases. My two adult children are traveling the world by themselves. Lorena has started studies at Geneva Uni. Damian is about to finish his Master degree in Copenhagen. As a family we have been on an home exchange site and done several swaps in the past years.
In live I try to avoid: eating meat, crowds, people who only talk about themselves, buying /keeping superfluous stuff, takeing airplanes.
I adore: my cat, sleeping late whenever possible, drinking huge quantities of coffee in the morning on weekends, drinking a glass of Prosecco once in a while, humble people, books, piano music, meeting up with my friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hosting people from all over the world is a bit like traveling in less tiring ;)
Interests
Reading, reading, reading! Novels mainly. Nothing too intellectual neither gory. About relationships for example, or about people narrating their travel adventures. My favorite music is pop and I like singing at home when nobody can hear me. Used to sing in a choir. I've got a fondness of piano music and started learning to play myself but, well, it's difficult when you aren't young anymore.
My friends are essential to me (to whom are they not....). I like meeting up with them regularly to chat, to laugh, to complain or to dream with them according the mutual state of mind. I'm always up to go to the movies or to eating out.
As an animal and nature lover, I'm concerned about planet Earth and try to behave respectfully in this regard even though it sometimes feels useless.
To keep me fit and help my inner balance, I do gym and yoga classes.
My credo is: less is more or quality over quantitiy
- gardening
- reading
- traveling
- music
Music, Movies, and Books
I am very, very forgetful. So naming movies, books and authors is quite difficult to me. Douglas Kennedy is a writer that comes to my mind as well as Bill Bryson, Marian Keyes, Jojo Moyes (Me before you.)
The Intouchables, Rainman, Brokeback Mountain, Match-Point (Woody Allen).
Piano music River flows in you (Twilight Soundtrack). Tried to play it myself albeit with mitigated success.
I adored the recent movie A Star is born and all the songs played in it!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Don't quite like questions like that.... Maybe home swaps if one thing had to be mentioned.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm doing a language "tandem" (French/Spanish) with a Spanish Girl which is super interesting in every aspect.
I try to improve my English by reading English novels.
My genuine interest in other people makes of me a good listener I think....
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer hospitality in return. Or practice French or German with you.
