About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I left Australia, where I was for a year and a half (longest I've stayed anywhere in 10 years!!!) about two months ago with a plan...but the plan didn't go...well,...as planned...so now I am sort of just vagabonding for a while, giving myself time to think about what I want to do/where I want to be. I'm starting in Croatia, then heading north to Slovenia, then back down into Serbia, Kosovo, Thessaloniki and from there flying to Crete. That's about as far as I've gotten and about 98% of it is entirely unplanned so wish me luck!! If you have any tips for me, send 'em my way! I'm listening. :)

ABOUT ME

I'm from San Diego, but have spent several years living abroad. Between my parents, I am pretty much a total mutt, which is to say, that traveling is apparently in my blood. I studied Anthropology so it’s pretty obvious that I love to learn about different cultures and participate in them as much as I can, what is not a give-in but is certainly true is that I love good food—I just recently discovered (in Catania) that I like anchovies, which is strange because I thought they were the only thing I hated (something I discovered somewhere in northern Italy a few years ago)! Anyway, ask me anything, I’ll be happy to share. Share back, I will be just as happy (if not more) to listen!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to be unhappy...if you don't like your situation, change it! Opportunity does not come knocking--you are the one who has to knock!! Go door to door until you find what makes your truly glow! Meanwhile, be respectful and honest. I believe that regardless of whether or not karma exists, you should treat people the way you would want to be treated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have used couchsurfing in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Mexico and the states. I've also attended CS meetings in Tunisia, Barcelona and Paris (absolutely amazing CS group there!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had nearly all good experiences couchsurfing. I think it is a wonderful way for people to learn about the country they are visiting...from somebody who REALLY knows...the most important part of a country is it's people.

Interests

I love listening to great stories and almost any outdoors activity. I love reading and theatre but am not a huge fan of television. Playing cards, meeting people and having interesting (I know this is vague... humanities; anything goes that is meaningful and passionate!) is basically a perfect way to spend my day!

Music, Movies, and Books

The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck...Inés of My Soul by Isabel Allende...Tim O'Brien The Things They Carried...and many more! I love all music pretty much...I'm not so into movies, but one piece of literature turned musical turned movie that I have obsessed with since childhood is Les Miserables.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

2009- The only thing that's ever taken my breath away is the sky in Wadi Rum in Jordan. The sky looks like diamonds spilled on a velvet cloth.

Backpacked south and Central America for 8 months on $25/day !

Ohrid, Macedonia. Sunny Lake Hostel, Boxing <3

Completely random chance to drive a jet ski around Sao Miguel island in the Azores...got to go into some spectacular caves, a secluded red pebble beach and well to drive around in this like-I’d-never-seen-before blue water! And on the way back, there was even a rainbow...memory for a lifetime!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to teach anything I can offer...languages or travel tips for any of the places I've been! Learning, I like learning anything...but no matter how many times I've tried to learn how to dance, that one just seems completely beyond me. I'll still try if that's your thing though!

What I Can Share with Hosts

hopefully a really nice time :)

I would be happy to share food, fun and laughter with anyone who would be willing to host me! And stories because I love stories!!
