About Me

CURRENTLY
I am visiting family in England, getting to know the place where my mom grew up and learn more about my family
ABOUT ME
Always ready for adventure but content to sit drinking tea and making art. I love to play music but am working through the blocks of sharing...I always appreciate a listening ear and some critique. Very simply, I like to share meals and laughter, I am happiest when riding my bike or swimming, and every day I am grateful for this life.
I deeply value the privilege to travel freely. So many in this world do not have the same access...largely due to colonization. As a citizen of the US and descendant of some super colonizers (yes youu Britain) it is essential to me that I examine my impact while traveling. I've witnessed (and inadvertently participated in) extraordinary disrespect to land, people, and culture. I say this here because I am hoping to hear from other travelers about their feelings and experiences with the impacts of travel (environmentally, culturally, economically, etc.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To connect and share. I've hosted many-a traveler and many have hosted me, but usually have done so through running into people in the street or hitchhiking or something of the sort. I've also used the site Warmshowers while I was bike touring, which is an amazingly supportive community to those traveling by bike, trike, or unicycle! So though I've had a profile for a while, I'm fairly new to the CS community. I will also soon be living somewhere more permanently (Pacific Northwest) and am excited to one day be listed as a host :)

Interests

Hiking and backcountry camping, riding my bike!, sustainable living/agriculture, playing and listening to all kinds of music, dancing!, cooking with friends and drinking coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books

Funky tunes and musical interludes! My favorite thing is to listen to friends play their music...on stage or in the street.

I like documentaries and films that make you think...also animation and visually stimulating
The Congress, Ixcanul,

Books...The Witch of Portobello, Jitterbug Perfume, The Man Who Fell In Love With The Moon, East of Eden, Harry Potter

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode my bike east to west through British Columbia! Lots of sweat and saddle sores. BC has amazing land and people :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm I know quite a bit about bike touring and bikes in general (if you're thinking of traveling by bike, do it!)

A little trick to traveling for me is to go to open mics or art opening for local artists if there are some around. Big museums are nice, but it's cool to see what is coming through locally and invest some of that travel money into people who live there

I like to learn more skills on the guitar and partner dancing of all kinds!
I can teach some basics on guitar and ukulele

ummm reluctant to share this but I do like astrology and can share quite a bit about it (but no I'm not a crazy hippie)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good food, a dance partner, some songs I wrote, weird stories, conversation or quiet

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Denmark, United States
