Resumen
Sobre mí
CURRENT MISSION
Perhaps I wouldn't mind opening a bicycle towed kitchen cart and selling Korean hot pepper paste omlette on rice out of the back.
ABOUT ME
Maybe I can just let the last hour or so speak.
I'm listening to Dirty Projectors as I type this, a band I think are pretty much mind-blowing. Have just been playing a touch of basketball down our local little half court. And thinking a bit about whether I plan to cook dahl tonight, and if so whether red lentil will be the way to go.
I'm around 6ft which is probably around average for New Zealand, though I have some dutch blood so I may be short for my heritage.
PHILOSOPHY
Rice is brilliant. Pasta not so good.
Live music is neccessary for good health.
Stats is not maths.
Arithmetic is not stats.
Usually happy to queue for a hand dryer.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Still learning!
Forgive the fact my profile has only just been updated even though I opened the account three years or something ago. Up until now I just haven't got into the task, (though everything must start somewhere... and maybe here is just where that starting is about to happen!). Let's hope anyhow.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Pretty minimal up until now...
Intereses
Played a little bit of bass guitar in the past, do my best to try and keep picking it up occassionally now. Pretty keen to pick up a banjo and start learning that sometime soon. Will keep you posted.
Enjoy cooking. Almost anything rice based. Risotto, dahl on rice, fried rice, rice burritto, omelette on rice. And non-rice-based is ok too I guess.
Reckon frisbee is one of the best sports. Like playing basketball too. Both of these just socially, and don't really watch them either.
Been doing a few cycling/camping trips since being in the UK. Enjoy this. Big fan of any camping.

Música, películas y libros
Currently reading 'Growth of the Soil' by Knut Hamsen. Basically about a man who goes into the Norwegian back-country to set up a life for himself, till the land, and start a family. Epic. The main character is all stoic, smart, and sensational. The setting? Remote.
Also was reading 'Sustainable Energy: without the hot air' until I misplaced it the other day. The librarian isn't going to pat me on the back for that. Written by an engineer (I think?) who now works as a UK government advisor on coping with the energy supply crisis. Just awesomely based on facts and numbers rather than adjectives and descriptives it seems.
Other books I've liked? The Wisdom of Insecurity by Alan Watts was great. Discusses the idea of needing to submit to the fluidity and constant change that exists in all things in the real world. And a human attempt to contain, fix, and grasp reality often removes the one aspect which distinguishes the reality from the conventions used to describe it in the first place. He applies this to religion aswell.
Some novels? 'Plumb' by the New Zealand author Maurice Gee. I liked most of Tom Wolfe's novels. Just read Nick Cave's most recent novel the other day. Brilliant musician and screenplay writer, but not so sure about the entertainment value of his creep-based writing. ha. The plot didn't really go anywhere. Not that I could tell anyhow.
Music... I love live music. Bands. I enjoy seeing bands with lots of brass, or funk, or anything with awesome musicianship anyway. I grew up on punk bands, though now have more of an affinity for folk. Recorded music? Some ideas in no real particular order: Talking Heads, The Shins, Other Lives, Herman Dune, Josh T Pearson, The National, Built to Spill (awesome), Cat Power, Nick Cave, Dr John, Dirty Three, Sons Of Noel and Adrian, At the Drive In, Of Montreal, Mogwai, TuneYards, Joanna Newsom, Joy Division, Little Wings.
Movies? Hmm. Definitely atleast anything with Kevin Spacey. Except that film he did back in the early 90's about a big secret super-gun or something. That was shockingly terrible. From the usual suspects on though, the guy is a hero (edit as at 10/11/17... not such a hero anymore, now that it appears he might be a paedo). Also like most of Scorsese's films, in particular The Last Waltz, which was The Band's last concert (done as documentary). Just watched swedish version of The Girl With the Dragon Tatttoo the other day and thought it was great. Think Christiane F would be my favourite german film. Seven Periods With Mr Gormsby probably my favourite comedy out of New Zealand.
