CURRENT MISSION

I am currently studying abroad in Stavanger, Norway. This is my first ever trip outside the United States and want to see as much of Europe as I can while I am here for the Spring semester.

ABOUT ME

I am a outgoing, friendly and courteous person who loves seeing new and different places. I grew up on a farm in rural Iowa with my hometown having roughly 1,000 inhabitants. I love being in nature and seeing the differences between places. I also love farming and the agriculture community. I am currently going to school for Environmental/Civil Engineering.

Over the years I have traveled around the United States making it to 23 states. Now I am abroad and want to see most of Europe while I am young and have a chance to travel.

PHILOSOPHY

"Your only young once but you can be immature forever."

This phrase is something I live by. I love taking time to just have fun and try to make most everything I do fun for myself and others. However, I do realize there is a time and a place to have fun and time to be serious.

The other phrase I live by is:
"It is better to aim for the stars and miss, than aim for the manure pile and hit."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet many new people and make some good friends that I can stay in contact with over the years. Right now I am simply looking for places to surf but my mother has also recently became a host and I will most likely be a host in the future, if anyone every visits small town North east Iowa.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Currently I am studying Abroad in Norway and so I have just surfed a handful of times and attended a few meetings. Hoping that there will be the possibility to host back home even with no tourists.

Interests

Farming and the countryside.
Old buildings and bridges or any unique structure(My engineer personality is the reason for this)
The large and small beauties of nature.
Traveling(of course)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most all movies with my favorite being Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars. However, I also like movies like The Princess Bride and Tangled.

I can listen to all music but heavy metal. My favorite genre is country.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been outside the U.S. since the 2nd of January and this semester abroad has been the best thing I have experienced. I have gotten to know a lot of great people from across Europe and the world who are studying with me and would love to make more friends and see more of Europe.

I come from the heartland of American and love sharing information about farming and my home area. I also love to exchange and experience different ways of life and food.
