About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being free! Ser livre!

ABOUT ME

I was born in sweden, in 1990, but my parents moved back to Brazil when I was 3 YO. I grew up in São Paulo city, the economic and financial centre of Brazil. I started skateboarding at 13, what made me go out in the streets and know many people, from different social classes and interests, and that was the first time I found out the world was much bigger than I thought at first. I started traveling with the boy scouts, where I discovered a love for the nature and camping.
I moved to a smaller city at 17, to go to Uni, then I started to travel more by my own, putting in practice all I had learned at the scouts.
ISince i graduated from Uni, I´ve been involved with urban agroecology/gardening, have taken a Masters Degree and now work as a History and Philosophy professor at a local school here in Brazil, play a little bit of guitar, and enjoy reading good books. I also practice meditation and have taken instructor's courses in Tai Chi Chuan/ Qi Gong and Tantra Yoga.

PHILOSOPHY

I´ve just found out that you can sort of surf the world. Yeah, I believe the material world is just our way of seeing a crazy enormous confluence of waves - we do can see them on the sea surface -, and that their interpenetration and feedback keeps building on and ever changing tissue of reality! This goes on for nature as well as for human realtions, comprised in it, differently than common sense would sa nowadays.
Life is about finding the good flowings and surfing them, just as a surfer does out there in hawaii or whatever. It´s not that easy, and many times we can fall greatly.
Just to send good vibrations is a good way of starting, as well as avoiding bad waves to touch your inner being. Then comes the best part of it, surfing! While the system is trying to enslave us all, with it´s big cities, plants and industries and strict times for everything and supermarkets with bright colours and televisions playing out loud, I do believe there are people that manage to be free.
I´ve felt like that for sometime, when I could just surf around, knowing amazing people and places, and reading the signs "La Ola" ("The Wave) gave me everytime, followed by incredible coincidences. That went on until I had a blown up credit card, and had to go back to university - seems like I´m still way tied up as well.
Maybe next time I won´t come back anymore...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I´ve hosted and surfed alike, thought it´s been some time since i´ve been active in the community. Fortunately I´m getting back to some good backpacking, so will now try and surf a bit and then later maybe open as a host as well.

Interests

I´m interested in so many diferent things it´s hard to write them down on a place like this.
Basically I´m curious about everything that goes on around the world and humankind (ok, I don´t really like math, to be honest). This means I really like reading, when I don´t have time or resources to properly do some exploration around, which is the coolest thing I like to do ( just hit a completely uknown town and start asking, or stick yourself into some trail on a just discovered mountainside).
This also means most times I´m overexcited by things at first, then after sometime it wears off and I´m already into doing another new thing. If I stop finding new things to do, I´ll probably get depressed.
Anyways, I love music, trekking, reading, meditating, planting gardens and seating by the fire. Maybe some cooking also.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing a mountain in Córdoba, with a crazy dude who had abandoned "material life" to live up there, just where the escarpments begin. I seriously thougt I was gonna die out there in the cold.

Finding my dad´s almost lost family in southern Brazil, with only a picture of the house and a brief indication of the place, from eleven years before. I was told all the stories about his childhood, and the strange story by which he left, never to go back.
