About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the east coast of North America. I want to challenge myself, overcome my fears of travelling independently (and sometimes untraditionally) and connect with the people and essence of the places I visit.
ABOUT ME
I'm 26, love adventures, meeting new people and broadening my knowledge and understanding of the world.
I was a newspaper reporter back home in Gladstone, Queensland, Australia, but the time came to decide whether to move up the career ladder or go travelling. I got a two-year working visa in Canada, moved overseas and here I am.
I've just done the 2013/14 ski season in Banff, Alberta, Canada, and fulfilled my desire to improve at snowboarding. Now I can't wait to explore around me!
I love learning and new experiences. I've always got a book on the go, something I'm writing and I love the outdoors. Nothing feels better to me than a day well spent conquering a mountain.
I can also be pretty chilled and enjoy spending a day in a coffee shop, writing on my laptop, reading and taking in the vibrant atmosphere.
I LOVE and appreciate fashion, though when travellng it's not really a priority. But I am a "typical" female and like to do what I can.
Other than that, personality-wise, I come off a bit quiet but I'm always happily coaxed into conversation. I'm easy-going, friendly and always up for spontaneous fun.
PHILOSOPHY
Take on and open yourself to experiences life throws at you. Be friendly and respect other people. We all have our unique skill sets.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I couchsurfed when I was living in England and travelling around Europe in 2009.
Friends I've met overseas have stayed with me when they came to Australia but due my stage of my life living in shared situations, I haven't been able to do actual couchsurfing hosting.
Once I get settled in a place of my own (when I return home from this round of travelling), I would love to invite worldly guests into my home and show them around my "backyard".
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I tested the waters with couchsurfing in 2009. Proved to be great experiences.
Interests
Travelling, reading, writing, getting outdoors. Snowboarding has been my recent focus but now I want to get into some warmer weather and make the most of it. I love running, hiking and bike rides.
I'm not a big party animal. I do love to dance and will have a big night once in a while if the vibe is right, but generally I enjoy a cool bar with a glass of wine or beer and interesting conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've read so many. Gone With The Wind is a recent favourite and I love autobiographies or real-life accounts. I love most literature and cultural experiences.
Movies - I love Will Smith and will always go to see his movies. What can I say, The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air has some good memories. Meryl Streep is another amazing actress I'll always go see. I'm a big fan of foreign films. Not keen on horror.
Music - Anything and everything, but I am a sucker for mainstream music with a good tune and beat. Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera, Hilltop Hoods, Tegan and Sara, Kid Cudi, Macklemore, Angus and Julia Stone, Pete Murray.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Saw a live volcano (Mt Yasur) on Tanna Island in Vanuatu at night = natural fireworks.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can play music, create websites and write.
There's always something to learn from someone else.
