About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Read good books, meet new people, travel the world.
ABOUT ME
I'm pretty much a boss. I enjoy travel, books, skiing, badminton, rock climbing, camping, ultimate frisbee, computers, and dubstep/alt rock/classical. I recently completed a nine-month tour of the world, visiting four continents and including seven months of sailing from Europe to the Caribbean.
PHILOSOPHY
Keep an open mind, embrace challenge and new experiences. Trust. Try not to get -too- drunk.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surfed a number of times in the United States last year, and then spent the remainder of the summer hosting the hell out of you couchsurfing types in my old apartment. Now, I'm starting to do it on my boat. Aren't you lucky?!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've gone to a CS meet-up in Chicago, and been hosted by a number of different people in that city. All of those experiences have been extremely positive, and I am feeling more and more like a part of the CS community.
This summer I hosted loads of surfers from all over the world--sometimes as many as five at once--and now that I've moved to the other side of the country and am settled in, I'm looking to start hosting again.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't watch a lot of movies, but I lean more towards the comedies or what have you. Can't stand blockbusters most of the time.
I read a lot of classics and fantasy, with a smattering of current affairs, sci-fi, and biography.
Currently working my way through the Malazan Book of the Fallen series.
Musically, I cover a decent amount of ground. I tend not to like R&B, rap, or pop/top 40 (with a few exceptions, of course). I tend to like alt rock, electronic, dubstep, and classical. Also, talk radio. Yeah, I said it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Waking up to dawn over the Sahara.
That first step into Turkey after months of hitch hiking across the entirety of Europe.
That sigh of relief after the hijacked bus I was on in Guatemala was let free without fatal incident.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I'm an avid hitcher and stealth camper, both of which are things I'd be happy to share some pointers and stories on. I very much enjoy baking! Like, the muffin-making variety. I dabble substantially less in cooking, though still find it enjoyable. I'm rather good with computers, and build my own. I promised my girl I'd learn guitar. I throw a mean frisbee, and smack a mean shuttlecock. I'm not a bad longboarder, and I do a good job of not falling off a bike, but I'll be damned if I can ollie. Taking stock of ones' own random skills is not an easy task! I'll have to give it some thought.
I'm into sailing, naval architecture, politics, reading, writing.
As for things I'd like to learn, any sports-related activities are things I'm willing to give a try. Outdoorsy stuffs or musical stuffs interest me greatly as well. Obscure mixed drinks?? I've encountered some strange ones, but it never hurts to learn about one more. I'm open to picking up any number of strange skills!
