ABOUT ME
A grad student living and working in Durham, NC. Besides "Durm" I've lived for a few years in Memphis, Austin and Kazakhstan.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've had coffee/drinks with a number of couch surfers when I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan. I met a lot of interesting and fun people and want to have similar experiences stateside. I've got a crazy schedule, so I'm not always able to host, but I am willing to grab a drink and point you in the right direction while you're in Durham.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My site, my sitemates, and local friends are featured in the couch surfing book "On the Couch." The author, Fleur Brittan was really fun and spent a few days hanging out with the PCVs in Shymkent.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - I'm forever an emo 16 year old through my undying love of The Smiths. But I love all kinds of music. I went to college in Memphis, and worked with the Stax Museum of Soul Music and on Beale Street. So I've got love for Elvis, Al Green, J. Cash, Sam and Dave, Jerry Lee Lewis, Booker T. and the MGs, and the almighty Isaac Hayes.
Books - I read everything from Philip K. Dick to Dostoevsky to Frank Miller.
Movies - "The Dude abides."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've had a lot of amazing travel experiences. More recently on my trip to Nicaragua I sledded down a volcano, swam in both the Pacific and Atlantic within three days and saw lava!
